Never Just Assume

Chapter 15

Nick's P.O.V.

Me and Leo had just exited Valentine's room after talking to him. We were walking to the elevator to meet my dad and Henry at one of the restaurants near the hospital. I am texting my dad telling him we are on our way when Leo all of a sudden pulls me behind a corner. I say, "What the-" Leo covers my mouth and points. I look in the direction he is pointing and see Courtney in her cheerleader outfit walking to Valentine's room. We look at each other and walk over to his room. We look through the window and see a shocked Valentine. Courtney places a radio on the ground. Music starts to play and a few seconds later, Courtney begins to dance. I watch in aww. Once she finishes, I whisper, "Wow..."

They talk about something and then Courtney changes. They then snuggle in bed talking. Not being to watch anymore, I walk away. "Stupid Valentine" I say, "What does Courtney even see in you?" "You ok man" Leo asks. "I hate Valentine and want to make him pay" I say. Leo says, "I know, and we will. Remember the plan." I nod and we meet my dad and Henry at the restaurant. When I go to bed that night, my only thought is 'Pay back is a bitch.'

The next day in school, I ponder this question. Valentine Reid, how do you even begin to describe him? Well my backstabbing friends would say something along the lines of smart, hot, kind, funny, good looking, and a badass. But in reality, Valentine Reid ...is a piece of shit. I don't even know what my backstabbing friends see in him, he's not even that amazing and I wish they could see him for who he really is. He betrayed me, stole my girl, humiliated me, and is unapologetic. I hate his guts and will make him pay.

I know what Valentine really is and thankfully so does Leo. Valentine Reid is a liar, backstabber, arrogant, rude, obnoxious, and fake. And one day I can promise you, I will prove that I was right and the better man to everyone. You may be asking yourself right now, 'How, how will I, Nick Thatcher achieve this and put Valentine Reid in his place?' I will tell you how I will accomplish this. Everybody has secrets that they don't want anyone to know. I will find one of these secrets with the help of Leo and we will expose the real Valentine Reid once and for all.

Now I know what you are thinking, 'That's great and all Nick, but Valentine isn't going to tell you anything. If you have forgotten, he doesn't like or trust you.' Excellent point, and I am well aware of that. That's why part one of my three part plan was put into action. Part one involves lulling Valentine into a fake sense of security. Me and Leo will pretend to see the "errors" of our ways and will make pretend to concede. We will pretend to be sorry and want to be friends with him.

Once he trusts us again, part two is put into action. Now that Valentine's guard is completely down, we will go in and gather intel. He won't suspect a thing or see it coming. After we have the secret that will expose Valentine for who he really is, the third and final part of the plan is a go. During either lunch or an assembly or prep rally, we will let the whole school know who the real Valentine Reid is. Everyone will finally see Valentine Reid for the person he really is, which is a liar, backstabber, arrogant, rude, obnoxious, and fake person.

I know I know, I'm a genius and the real hero of the story. Valentine may have won the battle, but I will win the war. Everyone may hate me right now, but once I reveal Valentine for what he really is, everyone will love me. They will forget all about Valentine, I will have saved the day, my friends with shower me with praise and apologies, Courtney will finally realize she made a huge mistake, and I will get the girl. I can't wait for that day, but until then I have to play my cards right and pretend that I was in the wrong.
