Never Just Assume

Chapter 17

Dakota, Bianca, Liam, and Marissa are unpopular. Marissa wants to become popular and is willing to do anything and whatever it takes to become popular. What happens when she betrays one of her friends to achieve popularity?

Courtney and I end up spending basically the whole weekend together at my house, cuddled up on my couch watching movies. Destiny, Zari, and even Ricky join us at one point during the weekend. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, the weekend had come to an end and the week had begun. We were only able to see each other on Tuesday for a few hours. This was due to the fact that Courtney has school, cheer leading, and homework.

The week went by fast and before I knew it, it was Friday. I woke up excited and nervous. I was excited because today was my date with Courtney and I was nervous because today was my date with Courtney. I was taken off bed rest but was still told to take it easy. Since I wasn't going to school til Monday, I decided to get ready for my date tonight. I was going to make the food for the picnic like Zari said and it was going to take place on the beach while we watch the sunset like Destiny said.

I go to the store to get all the food and then I head home. Once I'm back home, I prep the food for tonight. Once I'm done prepping the food, I check the time. It is a little after twelve and I don't have to leave til five forty. I eat lunch, then go take a shower. Once I finish my shower, I wrap a towel around my body and look for the perfect outfit to wear. After a few minutes of searching, I decide on a nice t-shirt, skinny jeans, and my signature leather jacket. I then style my hair how I like it.

Still having a few hours to kill before I have to leave, I turn on my ps4 and some play black ops before I have to leave. Once its five thirty, I get everything I need for the date, leave my dad a note, load my car, and head to Courtney's. Once I arrive at Courtney's, I walk to the door and knock. The door is opened by Mia. "Hello Valentine" Mia says. "Hello Mia" I reply. "Come in" Mia says and I step in, "Courtney, Valentine's here!" A minute later Courtney walks down the stairs.

"Woah..." I say looking Courtney up and down. Courtney is wearing a skirt a few inches above her knees and a blouse. Courtney walks over to me smiling. "You look amazing" I say smiling back. Courtney fix my jacket and doesn't move her hands away, "You don't look so bad yourself." "This is for you" I say reaching into my jacket and pull out a rose. "Thanks" Courtney says taking the rose and then looks down at the floor blushing. "Damn Valentine" Zari says walking down the stairs followed by Destiny, "You clean up good."

"Hello to you too Zari" I say, "Destiny." Destiny smacks Zari upside the head, "Zari." "We should get going" I say. "Have her home by eleven" Mia says. "And don't forget to wear a condom" Zari says. Mine and Courtney's face goes red and Mia glares at Zari. "Zari" Destiny exclaims smacking Zari upside the head again. "Was that really necessary" Zari asks. Me and Courtney walk out of the house and to my car. "Sorry about Zari" Courtney says. I say, "She's...something else." "That's one way of putting it" Courtney says.

I open the car door for Courtney. Courtney kisses my cheek and gets in. I walk to the drive side and get in. I start to drive to the beach. "So where are we going" Courtney asks. "That's for me to know and for you to find out" I reply. "Val" Courtney says. "Court" I say. "You suck" Courtney says. I flash a smile at Courtney. After driving for half an hour, we finally reach our destination. I get out and open the door for Courtney. Courtney gets out and I grab the picnic basket and blanket. I make sure my car is locked and then we walk to a secluded area on the beach with a good view of the sunset.

I put the blanket on the ground and we sit. "For the appetizer we have a variety of fruit. Then for the main course we have a variety of sandwiches and chips. To top it all off, for desert we have chocolate covered strawberries. And the drink of the day is mountain dew" I say, "All to enjoy while you watch the sunset." "You got all my favorites" Courtney says. "See" I say, "I listen when you talk. Courtney hugs me tightly and says, "Thank you Val." I return the hug and say, "No problem Court. Now, let's eat."

We talk and watch the sunset while we eat. When the sun sets, all the food is basically gone except for one chocolate covered strawberry. I pick up the strawberry and hold it out to Courtney. "No Val" Courtney says, "I have eaten basically all of them and you have only had a few." "I got these because you love them" I say, "I insist." Courtney takes the strawberry out of my hand and bites half of it, she then holds the other half out to me. I roll my eyes and eat the other half.

I am packing up everything when I see Courtney shiver. I take off my jacket and place it on her shoulders. "Val" Courtney says, "You'll freeze." "Courtney, I don't want you to freeze" I say, "Besides, I'm fine." "Ok" Courtney says putting on my jacket. Courtney grabs my jaw and turns my head to the side. She connects our lips and immediately kiss her back. My hands gently hold her waist while her other hand tangles in my hair. Courtney pulls me down on top of her. We continue to make out. Courtney then rolls over so that she is on top and I groan out in pain.

"Oh my god" Courtney says, "Are you ok?" "Still a little sore" I say. We stand up and finish packing up everything then we walk to my car. "Are you taking me home already" Courtney asks. "I figured we could take a walk along the beach" I say putting the everything in my car. I take off my shoes and put them in the car. Courtney does the same. We intertwine our fingers and start walking down the beach. We walk in silence, enjoying each other's company and the sound of the waves.

After a few minutes of walking, I stop and look at Courtney. I lean in and connect our lips. The kiss is slow and full of passion. After kissing for a few seconds, I wrap my arms around Courtney's waist, lift her up, and spin her around. Courtney squeals as her arms wrap around my neck. I lean our foreheads together and say, "Be my girlfriend." "As long as you be my boyfriend" Courtney says. "Deal" I say and connect our lips again.
