"Let's go Dylan!" I yell my fingers wrapped tightly around the chain link fence that surrounds the cage. The balls start to fly and he smacks them from the air like candy. "Dang bud" I say giving him a high five as he walks out smiling "You're up!" I tell Kylie pulling a helmet down over her head. She walks into the cage pushing the slower pitching speed and stands at the plate. Dylan laughs as Kylie swings openly at the air not hitting a single ball "Move your hands down the grip" I tell her and she glares at me missing yet another pitch. She walks out upset and I try to give her a hug "It wasn't that bad" I tell her trying to pull her in close to me, but she pushes me away "You do better" she says narrowing her eyes at me and I shrug grabbing a helmet and bat. I press the fast pitch button and get up next to the plate digging my feet into the fake turf "C'mon Jack" Dylan says softly from behind me. The ball cracks against the bat sending it against the back net, all the balls fall the same way till my hands are sore from gripping the bat so hard. "Dude, you're like a freaking pro!" Dylan says and I laugh ruffling his hair "Thanks bud" he smiles up at me "Why don't you play?" He asks moving a baseball through his fingers "I don't know, I've always liked baseball, I used to play, but with everything going on ya know" he looks away then back at me "Well I hope I'm as good as you one day" he says and I smile again. "What did you two forget about me?" Kylie asks running up to us "No, of course not" I say leaning against my jeep casually trying to flirt with her, but she just glares at me before getting in. "Where to now?" I ask starting the car "Ice Cream!" Dylan excitedly yells and Kylie groans "Why don't you just take us home?" A gross feeling builds in my guy like walls are building between us again. "Or you could just take her home" Dylan mutters under her breath "You know what Dylan?" She snaps looking back at him while I drive "What?" He responds sarcastically "Hey Ky settle down" I tell her and she whips back around in her seat. We pull into their driveway and Dylan runs inside while Kylie stays in her seat still fuming "What's wrong? What is happening Ky?" My voice hitches "Talk to me!" She sits quietly and I clench my jaw fighting tears "I don't love you Jack, this can't be a thing, I'm sorry" she unlocks her door and gets out running into her house. I slam my fists against the steering wheel unable to comprehend what's happening. Just like that she was gone.
