"Ten years and you just browse the internet." I lean back in my seat, muttering to myself, completely confused by this whole scenario.

It's been ten years since I've been following this satellite interference at the age of twelve. It was the only reason that I, as a mutant, and at such a young age was brought into the United Nations.

They trained me to fight, to be a leader, to be smarter, work harder.

In that ten years, I currently lead the berlin department of computer intelligence. It's in this department where my day to day is translating and interpreting this satellite interference. Explain the data that is being taken or collected and report it.

But, as I do that, I try to learn about interference. Because, over time the data being looked through and collected is not valuable by any means now. It's a strange pattern.

This person or being that was out in the stars, possibly planets away. Hidden by my lack of skill to broadcast past the moon, didn't seem like a threat from what I've witnessed.

All this person has been doing over the last year is watching tv, listening to music and looking up basic things about human biology and lifestyle.

Ten years ago, this person would spend months on end looking through encrypted government documents. I was always amazed watching their algorithm fly through my mind. The way they manually un-encrypted messages was an artform.

They single handedly taught me more about decoding than anything I could ever find. Im only as good as I am from the years of watching them.

The way they seemed to unravel even the most blacked out documents taught me things about my own planet, my own government, that I didn't know.

But nothing was done with the information. They wouldn't open nuclear war heads like I was terrified they would at first.

When they didn't, my mindset on this whole experience changed. It was less of a duty to collect every little thing they did, and more of a way to explore the idea of intelligence and emotional beings being out there somewhere.

A whole collection of people, living their lives however they do, were out there, watching our mistakes and they- they seemed like us, 'human'.

With a new light to my fire, I watched for hours on end as they would instead read about world wars, civil war leaders, leaders of pre dooms day, and historical records. Reading nonstop on industrial and technological uses, secret CIA missions and other covert operations at the time.

Then the alien began to study our language, they studied mandarin, English, German, American sign language, French and Spanish.

They investigated our math and sciences on the old internet. The person spent most of their time learning about different nations hand languages. It peeked into my interest as the days went on.

Was the alien unable to speak? Maybe this hand language was much like their own. It was a strange thought to in picture a being with no mouth, 6 arms and no means to talk.
