Chapter 6

Malaki 

My mind was exploring its surroundings as if I was a newborn baby. The air was new, the grass was new- it was fresh with life I have never felt before. A buzz was filling my body from all around me. The feeling of billions of energy tendrils grew from within me, buzzing to life as they reached around me. I was feeling the people, the electricity around me on a cellular level.

My eyes were closed as I calmed myself, pulling my energy back into myself, afraid of pushing myself too hard too quickly. My mind was ablaze with curiosity about what had happened just now, why were my senses so different.

The last words the child spoke to me were replayed within my mind. The words "Now save your Queen" as I pulled my eye lids open.

I fought my instinct to keep them closed- the feelings around me so calming. I brought my gaze down- finally looking towards Kiea. Her limp body was out of her suit and now in zeds arms as he seemed to be the only one of us unfazed by her absolute beauty.

Her hair was white as ice, as were her eyebrows and eye lashes, she looked almost nothing like her father. I wondered briefly if she took after her mother.

It clicked inside of me, as my hand seemed to reach out to her on instinct. My mouth forming the words 'wait', but my brain holding it inside of me. I had to remind myself she was safe in Zeds arms. He was taking her to the robot, V, who was explaining how to get her onto the hovering bed, and down to the med bay.

I would have to protect her; it was clear as day. She was indeed my queen.

The floating robot turned her body to me at the same time zed did. His beautiful eyes were on me in utter confusion.

My gaze met his question. His mouth moved and I couldn't comprehend the words that left his mouth.

Hendrix appeared to my left, walking around me, he and zed look to each other, worry imminent and I can't help my brows furrowing in confusion, wondering what they seem to be worried about.

Hendrix looks to me, again my body softening as his concerned eyes meet mine. His eyes are just as beautiful as zeds, and I'm stuck staring for a second.

My body ablaze near them. His mouth moves and I watch as V pulls zed along with her, saying something to him, and my gaze starts to move from Hendrix- but he's quick.

He steps in front of me, my gaze snapping back to him as his arms touch my shoulders.

V walked forward, standing next to Hendrix.

But as I stepped forward, her head turned completely around to stare me in the eyes. My body recognizes her signature from here.

My eyes widened feeling it for the first time, I called back to her.

V whipped her head around, looking at me up and down.

Her expression questioning me. A sudden buzz in the air sent chills up my skin. She softly moves Hendrix away from my front- I can see he's concerned.

"You're sending off energy." I heard in my head, and I looked over to V in shock. Her voice was within my head. My brain seems to comprehend that I'm speaking telepathically with an AI being.

"You- feel like an Artificial intelligent being, an intelligent machine- like myself." She looks at me up and down. I nod- understanding her.

With my mutation, that face seems to make sense.

"Follow me." V spoke allowed this time, snapping me out of this trance. My ears popped as I hear things around me again. My hands blink a few times, my hands on my ears, rubbing them as I open and close my mouth.
