Liana
Oliver replied came in the same evening and it was weird and I mean it,
Hello Ms. Jameson,
Seattle? It seem like many people are moving there, is it great? I will be flying to Seattle too and my staffs and I will meet your manager and if you can just drop by that would be great too. We will let you know the exact date of arrival and meeting place. Thank you for deciding to collaborate with us.
Sincerely,
Oliver Lee.
CEO of Creation Co.
Many people moving there? What did he mean? So far, I think Oliver does not know that I moved to Seattle. Mia did not tell Grayson yet about where I moved to, which is why six months I have been living a non-existing lifestyles. No one knows me at Seattle and the same goes for me. As I sat down with my laptop, Stacy's words about my comfort zone kept repeating in my head. I feel safer in my comfort zone, everyone do, but I am scared to come out of it and scared about any changes.. I am that kind of a person, where I should be knowing what is going on about the situations around me so I can find solutions quickly. Oliver was the needle that burst my comfort zone, which is why I got scared. He made me feel alive compared to my everyday miserable life. Before joining Comic Centre, my life consisted of me doing random part-time jobs and then I got used to working in the Creation Company, then Oliver came all of a sudden and then he made me feel in ways that I have never felt before and I was scared.
I keep repeating the word, "scared" that I feel that I am making excuses of the way I reacted to Oliver's way of protecting people. His confession from last time, still rings in my mind and I wished that I could have made things work. I wish I could have said back to him and most importantly I wish that we were still together, but wishing and truth is two colliding things because now everywhere on the internet it shows him and the woman we met in Japan, Megan are dating and my heart broke and I cried wishing that things would have been different.
I regret the decision I made because I was scared and now I am regretting it. Stacy is right, I have to step out of my comfort zone which is why I applied to work in the Comic publishing house located in the same area just few blocks from where I lived and where I am working currently.
My eyes stared back at Oliver's cold look on the screen and I wish he is happy now, much more happy with her than with me.
The next morning, I went to work as usual and things was a little stressful with one worker calling in sick and no one to take up the shift, but we were able to do it. As the last person came to order. She smiled at me.
"Liana Parker?" She said.
I nodded my head.
"Great! My name is Louisa Grey. The CEO of the 'Platinum Publishing House'." Her sentence made me paused and gasped at the same time. The woman is in her late 50's. She is about 5'4 with light blond hair cut short and her face was warm with wrinkle started to appear in her beautiful face.
"Hello."I greeted still in shock why she is telling me about it.
"I saw your application yesterday and you will be getting a call today for an interview this week." She smiled. "I was pretty surprised about your work and experience. How come you have never applied before, I see you everyday and didn't know about your previous working experience." She said.
"I-It's just I wanted to get back to the field." I said and she nodded her head in understanding. "Can I have one Dark Roast Coffee, 2 cream with a BELT sandwich?" She smiled warmly.
"Of course." I said as I punched in her order.
"I will see you in the interview." She said to me as she was about to leave. "Good luck."
I thanked her and when the rush hour was over, my colleague and I was literally screaming at the kitchen which was behind the Cafe about my interview. I hope I can get there and try something new and maybe just maybe do something that I have never experience before because I have decided to do everything in me to make things work.
When Archer came by later that day, he noticed my excited mood and questioned about it.
"I got the call just an hour back for an interview in Platinum Publishing House."
His brown eyes widened and he smiled, "Congratulation, hope everything goes great!"
"I hope so too, regular?" I asked him.
"Regular." He chuckled.
"See you tomorrow , Archer." I said as he said good-bye and quickly exited.
It was Thursday and I was exhausted at the end of the day and was glad my shift was over.. before leaving I made sure to check all the products, called up to ensure that the delivery was coming later and calculated the waste etc. As I was walking back home, I came across a small book store and I was pretty surprised that I haven't notice that already. The bell chimed as I entered and I saw an old lady sitting in the counter. She smiled warmly at me. Her white hair shining due to the lights in the ceiling.
"Welcome to Daisy's book store." She greeted and I took in the sight.
The place smelled of old books and there was coffee tables and chair and I noticed on the walls was drinks and home made foods prices written on it.
The place is different. It feels warm and home.
"Grandma." I heard a voice and saw a 4 years old boy, who came out of nowhere.
"Can I have some hot chocolate with Marshmallows on top." The boy pleaded.
"We have a customer here." She said and the boy looked at me. His blue eyes looked sad and lonely and I wonder if his grandma sees that too.
"Okay, I will come back later." He said his head stooping down as he turned around.
"Would you like to have hot chocolate with me?" I said quickly and his head snapped to mine and his eyes said it all.
"Can I have cookies along with it and also some sandwiches?" I said as I paid for the food and drinks. His grandma didn't want to take the money for his drink, but I said it was fine.
"He lost his parents when he was just 2 years old." She said looking at the child with sad eyes. "His mother is my daughter. They died in a car accident. He is a sad child."
My eyes looked at him as he sat in one of the chair with book on his lap.
"I am sorry to hear that." I said and she shake her head.
"I am okay, I am just worried about him. I am busy trying to get customers here to support us." She said. "I really don't have time to play with him."
"Mind if I drop by frequent?" I said and she smiled.
"Definitely." She said as her eyes shone.
"Are you hungry?" I said to the child as I placed cookies and sandwiches on the coffee table and his eyes widened.
"Cookies?" He said. "Grandma's cookies?"
I nodded my head and smiled at him.
"She allow me only 2 cookies a day." He said.
"That's fine. I want to share it with you. There is many." I said.
He looked at me for sometime. "What's your name?"
"Liana." I said. "What about you?"
"Liam." He said and I smiled at him.
"I have no friends here, I came from NYC. Do you want to be my friend?" I asked.
He looked at me cautiously and said, "Okay." so softly that I almost couldn't hear him, but I did.
Who would have thought my first friend in Seattle will be a 4 years old child. Liam are silently as he read some books with lots of pictures compared to writing.
Just then the bell chimed and I heard the old woman greeted the person and my smiled faded.
