Statue

You stand unchanging

Guarding something precious

People pass by never knowing

You watch them and secretly know

That one day they will have a silent guardian too

You have watched over your person for several years

But people never wonder the story

About why she died so young

But then she was not even marked

No one knows that she lies at your feet

Has lain there for nearly a century

Hidden there by someone close to her

Someone greedy and willing to risk it all

Now that person has their own guardian just a few yards away

But you just stand there never changing

Guarding her until the end of time
