Lafayette hadn't shown up to school at all a week later, and no one seemed to notice. Not Alexander, or John, or Josh, or Tyler, or Demyx, not even Thomas. There were only two people who noticed it; James and Hercules.

Hercules was in a constant daze, straying away from his group. He thought about Lafayette's actions a lot, and how they still loved each other.

James tried to talk to Thomas about how Lafayette was missing everyday, but Thomas always changed the subject. And he was still talking to Demyx most of the time, so he ignored James.

And James was fed up with it.

It made him sad when Thomas would ignore him, but that wasn't what he was fed up with. Thomas was catching up with an old friend, and James felt as if he was selfish for wanting to keep him to himself.

James was more upset over how Thomas either didn't notice or pretended not to notice that Lafayette was gone. So, James decided that he wanted to sneak out of his room and check on Lafayette.

After school that day, James immediately went to his room and threw his bag down, letting out an exhausted sigh. He was standing by his window then realized:

It's Valentine's Day.

And Thomas hasn't done anything for James yet. He sighed again, feeling tears well in his eyes, but he shook them away. Maybe he had something planned for later...? Maybe that's why he was gone...

James heard his phone ping, and he fished it out if his pocket in hopes of it being Thomas. But it wasn't. It was Hercules.

Mulligay: james have you heard from laf recently?

jemmy: no, why?

Mulligay: I'm worried...

jemmy: me too... even if he's against me and thomas...

Of course, James knew, or at least thought, that Lafayette was against him. But, he still felt the need to check on him. Walking downstairs, James slipped out the front door. He shivered a bit.

Mulligay: laf isnt tho

jemmy: what?

Mulligay: he left our group because he got attached to you two

Mulligay: he came to my house and slapped me last week...

jemmy: oh

jemmy: wait aren't you still with them? why are you telling me?

Mulligay: I don't want to be here...

Mulligay: but theres a secret

Mulligay: and alexander can be ruthless...

James stopped replying as he walked, and just thought about what he said. Hercules has a secret...? What could it possibly be? But his thoughts were interrupted when he saw Lafayette's giant house.

Taking in a shaky breath, James walked up the steps and rang the doorbell. He waited for about a minute. No answer. Again, he rang the doorbell. No answer. James sighed and panicked a little, sliding his back against the door. But, the door opened slightly.

He got up and slowly walked in. "Lafayette?" He shouted. Surprisingly, James heard a shriek and a bang against the wall. He basically sprinted up the stairs. He ran into the room that's door was slightly cracked open to see Lafayette staring back at him in a look of panic.

"J-James...?"

"Laf, are you okay?" James mentally slapped himself as he ran to Lafayette's side, because the boy was obviously not okay. "I th-thought you hate m-me..." he stuttered. James let Lafayette hold onto his arm, but soon it turned into Lafayette with his head buried in James' chest, while James had his arms around Lafayette. He just cried as he clutched onto his shirt.

About thirty minutes later, Lafayette's tears dried up. He looked up at James, whispering with a raspy voice, "Why are you even here?" The boy sighed, stretching out on his bed, which the both had moved to. "You've been gone for a week, what happened?" James asked, leaning against the bed frame.

Lafayette sighed again, but slowly let everything spill. James was enlightened more than before with Hercules. He had been telling the truth, about everything. And he'd told him about why he slapped Hercules, and why he still loved him. James felt tears prick in his eyes. "God, Laf, I'm so sorry." Lafayette waved his hand in front of his face dismissively. "It is fine. You had the right to feel like that..."

The boys sat in silence once again, until James realized it was getting dark. Reluctantly, he stood up. "It's getting late. I'm going to go home, okay?" Lafayette nodded. Before James left, he turned back to say, "And come to school tomorrow." Lafayette just nodded again.

When James made it home, it was around 8:00 pm. He looked in his room in hope of seeing Thomas, but it was just empty and dark. Sighing with a wave of tears coming on strong, James went to take a shower. The warm water dripping down his skin made him feel a bit better.

When James went to lay down, he couldn't sleep. He tossed and turned for an hour until he got tired of it and just played on his phone. He thought he'd be up all night, until he heard the front door open.
