I barely ever knew them, so why do I miss them so much? How can I long for something if I don't know what I'm longing for. Maybe I just want something to hang onto. But, now I have Gerard and Lyn-z and Ray and Mikey- right? I guess that it's just not the same. Ill never have someone tell me how much I look like my dad. I never got to experience my first words with someone. No one ever taught me to tie my shoes or brush my teeth.
Jamie and my parents both left me in the same way. It wasn't anyone's fault, it was just fate. And they both left in the blink of an eye, with no time to prepare. With no time to say goodbye.
I looked over at Lyn-z. She still had her arms wrapped around me, but we were sitting in comfortable silence. Maybe I won't have someone to compare my looks to or talk about how stupid I looked when I walked for the first time, but I'll have a mom to experience my first girlfriend with, learn to drive with, make memories with. I may not have my real parents with me, but that isn't anyone's fault. I'm just glad that fate gave me an amazing family to share the rest of my life with.
"H-hey Lyn-z? Is it okay if I call you mom?" I said through hot, happy tears.
"Of course, D" she replied into my shoulder.
After a few more minutes, we started to drive home. Lyn-z turned on the radio, and Green Day started playing. That instantly lifted my spirits.
"WELCOME INTO THE DEAD STREETS AND ALL THE BROKEN BONES
SOME CALL IT SLUMS SOME CALL IT NIIIIIIICE
I WANNA TAKE YOU TO A WASTELAND ID LIKE TO CALL MY HOME
WELCOME TO PARADISE" We screamed at the top of our lungs.
I had a smile plastered on my face when we reached the house. Gerard was home and Ray's car was in the driveway. There was another car too, which I was guessing was Mikey's.
"Why the hell haven't you talked to me in two years!" Gerard's voice echoed through the house as we entered. What's going on? I glanced over at Lyn-z, she looked back at me, and she seemed just at confused as I was.
"Oh, I don't know, maybe because you broke up the band out of nowhere!? It felt like my family was breaking apart! You didn't even tell me before the public found out! I had to learn the hard way. I was broken!" Said a voice that sounded familiar. It sounded like a voice that I used to know, except now it was broken, like the life had been sucked out of it.
Lyn-z and I ran into the kitchen.
"What's going on!" Yelled Lyn-z
I looked around the room. Now I knew exactly what was going on. Ray was the first to speak.
"Well," he glanced over at the short man sitting on the couch with his hair cut short and his bangs pushed to the side in a swoop. "We found Frank."
