"Dad, what's going on?" I asked sheepishly. I absolutely hated it when people were fighting. That's why I never got mad at anyone unless they really deserved it. I hated the feeling if when people were mad at me, and I never wanted other people to feel that way. People at the shelter used to call me a softie, but I thought that it made me stronger. I definitely didn't feel strong now, though.
Gerard looked over at me with sad eyes. He was standing up on the other side of the room, it looked like he had been pacing.
"...Dad?" Said Frank.
"Yea," Said Gerard harshly, "what does it matter to you anyway?"
"It matters everything to me! You think I wouldn't care that my best friend adopted a kid!? Gee I came back to make things right with you. But you don't seem to want to change."
"Well I'm sorry that I haven't gotten over you leaving out of nowhere! You were just," Gerard had tears in his eyes, "gone."
That's when it hit me. Gerard went through the same stuff that I did. So did frank. Both of their lives were gone in the blink of an eye. It's funny how your life can change in a matter of seconds. Your parents die. The love of your life leaves you. You get a new family. You break up a band. Your best friend leaves. Anything can happen at any moment, and you can't control it. The force of the universe holds your future, and nothing can stop the universe.
My head started to spin, and I grabbed the arm of a chair to keep my balance.
"Hey," Said Frank, "are you Okay? Uh,-"
"Delilah." Said Gerard
This was too much. It was all too much. So much had happened today. My head was spinning in infinite circles, thoughts swimming around in ever direction.
