Shadow was sitting watching the news broadcast that he unfortunately missed a few days ago. He did prerecord it though to watch when he had time. Which he now did.
"Last night four superheroes, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Wonderwoman, and Superman were seen attacking this underground bar, injuring a few inside. They left the scene before police arrived, all now questioning why the heroes would do this." Cat Grant reported.
He laughed so hard he fell out of the chair.
"I'm assuming you had something to do with that?" Slade asked, clearly amused.
"Bats wanted to know where you were hiding. Technically speaking it is a spot you could have been." Shadow wore a large amused grin, very satisfied with himself.
"I would never have a reason to go to an alien dive bar." His mentor mused.
"How am I supposed to know that? You could've been given a new target that was inside." Shadow gave him a sly grin as he continued, "or you could have been meeting up with Poison Ivy."
"Ow!" Shadow groaned after Slade slapped him upside the head.
"It was one time while I was being mind controlled. And I told you to never bring it up." The mercenary scolded his young protege.
"Alright, alright." The acrobat gave him, holding his hands up in surrender.
The acrobat stood up on his hands going into a handstand before flipping back right side up.
"So, boss. Any missions?"
"Actually yes. We leave right now." Slade told him.
"Okay, cool. Where are we going? And don't we need to get into uniform?" Shadow questioned with a raise of his eyebrow.
"No uniform. You need to turn human or wear a hat and sunglasses, and we're going to the carnival." The mercenary stated.
Shadow snorted in response, "I'm sorry, the carnival? Since when do you go to the carnival?"
"Since now. I've been hired to gather information on a family."
Shadow gave him a questioning look that asked all that he needed to without speaking his question aloud.
"It was requested by Ra's Al Ghul. I wouldn't take it if for the fact he was a member of the Light." Deathstroke sighed, clearly angry he was given such a task. He was a mercenary, not a private investigator.
"Okay, great. So who are we following? And why?" The boy asked while grabbing a beanie and shoving it over his head to obscure his white hair.
"We're following Bruce Wayne. Apparently he had a thing with Ra's daughter, Talia Al Ghul and she's now pregnant with a bastard child. He wants to ensure Bruce doesn't know of the child. Mr. Wayne is a huge contributor to the Justice League. If he knows, the League would have reason to cause more problems for the Light and the Shadows."
Shadow had to bite his tongue at that. Bruce had way more connections to the league then just funding them. And due to him being his brother's adoptive father, he wouldn't say a thing to Slade.
Shadow caught the sunglasses that Slade threw at him and put them on. The blacked out glasses hid his glowing green eyes perfectly. And the red hoodie and blue jeans he wore were already good enough to be considered civilian clothing. Though he did have four knives hidden over various parts of his body that he's sure not many civilians would normally carry. Granted, he does live in Gotham, so many people probably do have at least one knife on them.
"Let's go then." Slade ushered Shadow out of the house.
The two got into the car and drove down to the carnival that was in town for a few days.
