Chapter 22

"Young lady what do you think you're doing out in the hallway sleeping?" A teacher said waking me up.

"I'm sorry."

"Okay, now get to class." They reached their hand out towards me and helped me up. I ran to my next class.

I was walking home and heard something to my left. I decided to look, and there was Rylee getting beat up by other kids. I felt like I should just walk away and let things unfold. Put the person beating him up was no High Schooler. He didn't even look like he was in college. I ran towards them and flung myself at the man pushing him off of Rylee.

"What're you doing." I heard Rylee say quietly. "I've hurt you so much why are you saving me."

"Because I cant stand by and watch someone I know get beat up."

The man got up and pulled a blade out of his pocket.

"Why are you trying to kill him?" I asked the man.

"Because he didn't kill the person I wanted him to kill. I've followed her. Waiting for the perfect moment to strike. But then me and Rylee bumped into to each other and I offered him 100,000 to leave this horrible town if he killed her. He tried but it didn't work. She's still alive and breathing. So I'm going to take her out myself. And that someone is..."

Out of no where his leg was shot and he fell to the ground. Screaming in pain. Police came running over here and put his hands in cuffs. Ambulance came and helped Rylee out. As the man was being dragged away he screamed at me.

"YOU. THAT SOMEONE WAS YOU!" The car door was shut, and it went silent.

Me? Why me. What have I ever done. What did I ever do to make people hate me so much?
