Adebola threw her pen against the wall angrily. She was really feeling guilty. She stood up and walked briskly to her brother's office. She met Helena in his office with her head bent on the desk. Shortly after, her brother emerged with a first aid box. A lady also came in to drop a basket.
"Any problem?" Aderenle asked when he saw Adebola in his office. Adebola scoffed and said,
"Hello to you too. What is wrong with Helena?"
"Er.....er........, Adebola, what do you really want? I am not in the mood right now,"
Adebola frowned and said,
"I did not ask you that question as your sister,I am asking as the managing director of this company and I want you to answer me,"
"This is a personal matter and I don't think you should get involved," Aderenle said gently.
"Really? I don't care. Helena what is wrong with you?" Adebola said facing Helena.
Helena raised up her head and said,
"Ma....er...er,"
"Hmmm, Adebola we can talk about this later. Just let her be please," Aderenle cut in raising his voice. Adebola left the place in anger and Aderenle sighed.
"Sorry about that. Let me treat your bruises first," Aderenle said as he opened the make up box.

"What!!!!! Why didn't you tell me that she had a daughter?"
"I am sorry sir,I just found out,"
"I give you two hours, I want that girl dead."
****************************** He wandered around Modurotoluwa's school looking for her. He has been working for the boss and his wife for the past nine years. He knew Adebola has done virtually nothing to the man but he couldn't refuse the boss. The boss has been so good to him and his family. He sighed and shook his head. He didn't want to kill Adebola and her daughter. The people he has killed in the past was because of their wrong deeds. He saw Modurotoluwa approaching with her friends. He repositioned the gun and fired. The gun met her on her stomach. He groaned as he packed his gun and attempted to run. As he stood up, he saw two men in uniform. He dropped the gun slowly and raised his hand on his head.

"Yes, this is Miss Adebola Adeleke speaking. What!!!! Where!!! Which hospital?"

Adebola ran into the ER. She met her mum,dad and sister already seated.
"Mum,dad, where is my daughter?" She asked in tears. Her mother stood up to hug her and said,
"She is still in the theatre,"
Adebola sank to her knees as tears dropped freely from her eyes. Adeire moved closer to her and used her hand to rub her back in consolation.
"I don't anything to happen to my baby," Adebola said admits sobs.
"Sister b, she will be fine. Modurotoluwa is a fighter," Adeire said.
Few hours later, the doctor in charge of the surgery came out and they all stood up.
"Doctor, how is she?" Adebayo asked and the whole family nodded.
"Fortunately, the bullet did not affect her vital organs. The operation was successful. She should be awake in few hours," he replied.
"Thank God!! Can we see her now?" Adebola asked in anxiety.
"Hmmm, not yet. When she wakes up,you can see her then. Her organs are sensitive now,so all of you can't see her. Only her mum can see her but she has to wear protective clothing," The doctor explained as they all listened with rapt attention.
"Thank you so much doctor," Adebayo said shaking hands with the doctor.

Aderenle shut down his computer slowly and stood up to leave his office. His father instructed him to finish up at the office, go to the police station to see the culprit before coming to the hospital. He looked at the door and saw Helena packing her things too. He went out of his office and stopped by Helena's table.
"Hi,"
"Good evening Sir,"
"Hmmm..... My niece was shot at her school and the culprit was caught. My dad wants me to go to the police station and I don't want to go alone. Do you have anything to do at home?" He blurted out.
Helena smiled and said,
"No Sir,"
"Fine, meet me at the parking lot," Aderenle said as he walked out.
******************************
When they got to the police station, Aderenle went to see the DPO who told him to sit down at the a room where he will be able to see the culprit. Immediately, the culprit was brought out, Helena gasped. Aderenle looked at her and said,
"Are you okay?"
She shook her head as tears dropped freely from her eyes. The culprit laughed and said,
"What are you looking for here? Don't think you are free because I am definitely getting out of here."
Aderenle frowned and said,
"And who are you?"
"I am her boyfriend,"
"So? Why do you have to threaten her and who told you that you will get out out of here?" Aderenle said firmly and the culprit scoffed.
"I wanted to calmly ask you why you shot my niece but I think I know the reason. You will definitely rot in jail," Aderenle said as he stood up to leave.
"The main target is your sister and the boss won't rest until he kills her," The culprit said and Aderenle smiled.
"Tell that boss of yours that he won't succeed. I won't let him mess with my family again," Aderenle said as he held Helena's hand and he gently dragged her out of the place. When they got to the car park he released her hand and hugged her. She was stiff at first but after some seconds she relaxed and rested her head on his chest as she sobbed. Aderenle patted her back gently as he whispered words of comfort to her. After a while, she stopped crying and she entered the car. As Aderenle turned on the ignition,Helena coughed slightly and said,
"I am so sorry. I did not know that he was capable of such thing,"
"Helena, it is not your fault and I don't want you to think about it,okay?" Aderenle said and she nodded.
"So, let me drive you home. Are you sure you will be okay at home?" Aderenle inquired and she nodded.

Adebola rested her head on her daughter's bed as she sobbed gently. Modurotoluwa was looking lifeless on the hospital bed with different wires plugged to her body. She looked at the window and saw Detective Olaoluwa who was obviously waiting for her. She cleaned her eyes and left the ward to see Detective Olaoluwa.
"Hi,I am sorry about what I said to you this morning and I am also sorry for your loss," Adebola said all in one breath and Olaoluwa smiled.
"No problem miss,I came to investigate further." He said pulling out his phone.
"Do you know this man?" He asked showing her a picture from his phone. Adebola closed her eyes a little as she tried to remember if she had seen him before.
"I can't really figure out where I have seen him. Who is be?"
"He was the one who shot your daughter," Olaoluwa declared. Adebola sighed and said,
"Can we postpone this interrogation because I can't think straight right now," Adebola said as she gently rubbed her temple.
Detective Olaoluwa nodded as he turned to take his leave. Adebola also walked towards the direction of her ward. Suddenly She stopped walking abruptly and said,
"I think I know him,"
Detective Olaoluwa moved closer to her and asked,
"How?"
"My daughter was a secret to my parents at first so she was living with a friend of mine. I have seen him in that house a couple of times but she said he is the dry cleaner. He did seem suspicious to me at first but I did not pay attention to my suspicions."
"What is the name of your friend?" Detective Olaoluwa asked inquisitively.
"I know her as Mrs John,"
