INSEPARABLE IT SEEMS

CHAPTER 1

Dinner was the worst meal of the day for the Adeleke Family. Mrs Temilola Adeleke was always nagging,scolding maids and saying old stories repeatedly. Their house was a large duplex with a bungalow at the back. The dinning room was decorated with a chandelier and a shelf containing medals and awards given to the members of the family. Adebayo Adeleke made sure  that all the members of the family were always present for dinner.
Aderenle looked at the food in front of him and felt irritated. His mother knew he didn't like Egusi soup but she still made sure it was part of dinner.
He pushed the food aside, took an orange and stood up.
"Where do you think you are going young man," Adebayo asked him.
"Dad I don't like egusi soup," He replied.
"It is not an excuse for you to leave the family dinner like that. If you don't like it,then eat something else," Adebayo said.
Aderenle sat down reluctantly,he wasn't in the mood to argue with his dad.
Temilola coughed slightly and said,
"Can you guys remember the kids of my best friends while we were in the states?"
Aderenle and Adebola looked at themselves and smiled. They knew where their mum was going to.
"Skylar' s son is a year older than Bola and Kate's daughter is a year younger than Aderenle which is perfect. So both of you have a dinner date with them on Sunday. Dress well."
"Mum,I will be busy on Sunday," Adebola said.
"Doing what? If you cannot bring a husband home,I will bring one to you. I don't know why you and your brother are being stubborn. Maybe if you have set a good example for him,he will be married by now."
"Mum!!!!"
"Don't you want me to see my grandchildren?" Temilola said close to tears.
"Alright mum,we'll go," Adebola said smiling.

"Baby,I am sorry I came late," Adebola said. Five years ago after the rape, She was depressed. Two  months later, she discovered that she was pregnant. She wanted to commit suicide in the hospital's restroom but was stopped by an old woman. She narrated her story to the woman and the woman told her to stay with her until she delivered. She made up a story for her parents and moved into Mrs John's house. A year after,she moved back to her parents' house leaving Modurotoluwa with Mrs John. She made sure she attended her daughter's school activities, birthday and visited her often. Sometimes,she slept over during weekends.
"Hi Mrs John, hope she hasn't been troubling you,"
"No,your daughter is an angel. She aced her tests,has she shown you?" Mrs John said.
"Really,I haven't seen her, where is she?" Adebola said as she stood up to look for her daughter.
"Modurotoluwa!!" Adebola shouted. Her daughter came it running with a doll in her hand. Adebola carried her up and hugged her.
"I have missed you,did you miss me?" Adebola asked.
"Yes mum,I had a bad dream but you were not there,"
"Baby,I am sorry,"
"Mummy, don't leave me again. Stay here with us," Modurotoluwa said as tears dropped from her eyes.
"Honey,very soon,mummy will be with you. I promise," Adebola said close to tears.
"Mum,please sleepover," Modurotoluwa said.
"Okay baby. I brought something for you,let's go and check it," Adebola said smiling.

"I have to go now," Adebola said to Mrs John.
"Your daughter needs you,she cries when she doesn't see you beside her every morning. She isn't getting younger,you need to tell your parents for her sake." Mrs John said quietly.
"I will,I promise but I am not ready,"
"Adebola, you are not a baby.it wasn't your fault that you were raped. Tell your parents,"
"I will try to, Goodnight," She said as she kissed Mrs John's cheek.
