CHAPTER 14

"What!!!!" Aderenle shouted.
"How did he escape? What were the police looking at?" He said angrily.
"The officers went for lunch and the officer in charge of him went to the restroom," Detective Olaoluwa said.
"Am I the only one that thinks he is lying? Just say he bribed you and you guys released him," Adeire said angrily.
"Adeire!!!" Aderenle reprimanded.
"What? Is it not true? Where was the gate man? Where was the detective himself? I don't know why they take citizens as fools in Nigeria," She replied angrily.
"That's enough," Aderenle ordered.
"Wait oo,I am just saying my own,why is it affecting you?" Adeire said rudely.
"Adeire,what is wrong with you? If you have to be so rude,you shouldn't do it in front of strangers. You were not brought up in this manner," Temilola said and Adeire bent her head.
"I am sorry mum but Aderenle...................."
"Will you shut up? In fact, get out. You are just making matters worse," Adebayo said angrily.
"I am sorry dad," She said as she left the ward.
"Sorry about that detective,so what should we do now? I don't want anything to happen to my children and grandchild," Adebayo said.
"Sir,maybe they can travel out of the country,for the main time till we get to the root of the matter,"  Detective Olaoluwa said.
"Leave the country? Dad,I am not ready to leave and my daughter doesn't want to either," Adebola said.
"Sweetheart, it is for your safety. We don't want anything to happen to you," Temilola said gently.
"Mum!! I didn't do anything to anyone to warrant all this. Why is someone after my life? Why do they want to kill my daughter?" Adebola said and left the ward.

"I'm sorry you had to see all that," Aderenle said to Helena when they got to the car.
"It's okay. I'm sorry about what's happening to your family." Helena said sadly.
"He can come to your house," Aderenle said.
"What do you mean?"  Helena asked.
"The culprit,when he comes please Alert the cops," Aderenle said gently.
"I.....I....I.."Helena stammered.
" Please help my family," Aderenle said.
"But,I need time to process all this. I can't promise you that I'll call you,"
"Why?"
"We've been together for years, I can't believe he is capable of murder,"
"But he assaulted you,"
Aderenle said raising his voice.
"I know but he was always drunk while he was doing it,"
"Alright, I understand but I want you to know that two lives are at stake."
"I know. Your sister has always been nice to me and I  don't want anything to happen to her but he  has not been proven guilty yet,"
"Helena,they found the gun in his hand,"
"Yes but that is not enough evidence. I am sorry but I don't want to talk about it again,"
"Fine,suit yourself,"
Aderenle said angrily.

Adeire rested her head on her laps as she sobbed gently. She was extremely worried about her sister and her niece. She felt a hand touch her back and when she looked up,she discovered that it was her elder brother. She stood up and hugged him.
"I am sorry, I wasn't thinking,"
Aderenle patted her back gently and he said,
"It is okay dear,I know you did that because you are worried."
Adeire nodded as she sat down and her brother sat beside her
"Aderenle, I want to tell you something, promise me,you won't tell anyone."
"I promise. I hope it is nothing serious,"
"It isn't,it is just that,I - - - - really want Sister Adebola to be safe,"
She rested her head on her brother's shoulder.
"Me too Darling but are you sure that is what you want to tell me? Because that is not a secret,"
"Yes,I am sure,"

"Where is he?"
"I don't know,he has been on the run since he escaped from the prison,"
"Then find him and kill him,"
"Why are you doing this?"
"What do you mean,"
"I mean,I have understood you,all these years,all the killings,I did not complain but this one,I don't think I can go on with it. That girl and her daughter are innocent and you know it,"
He dragged her hair and she screamed,
"If you don't keep quiet I'll kill you and feed you to my dogs. Harlot!"
She gasped and nodded.
