"Can you describe the man?" The police officer asked Adebola.
The man escaped and the police were alerted. They came about an hour later and started their investigation. Adebola could not call anybody because she was injured and needed to be treated immediately. She refused to leave her daughter's side so the doctors had to treat her in the same room as her daughter. Her arm was fractured due to the impact of the fall and it had to be bandaged. It was a minor fracture so she didn't need to be admitted. Her daughter was sleeping peacefully beside her. She woke up earlier due to the noise but slept back few hours later. It was 7'o clock and the police were still in the hospital investigating. Her parents were alerted and were on their way to the hospital.
"I don't know, he was wearing a face mask and face cap," Adebola replied quietly.
"Tall or short?" The policeman asked again as he wrote something in a small note.
"Short,"
"How short?"
"I don't know," Adebola said in a frustrated tone.
"Ma'am, you need to help me. You are  the only witness," He said.
"I said I don't know," Adebola said raising her voice.
"Ma'am....."
"Good morning, I am the detective in charge of the case. I'll take it from here," Olaoluwa said showing the police man his identify card. They didn't notice when he entered so when he spoke they were surprised.
"Okay, thank you," The police man said and he left the room immediately.
"Are you okay?" Olaoluwa asked immediately the policeman left the room.
"No,"  Adebola said quietly and if Olaoluwa was not so close to her,he would not have heard her.
He sighed, pulled her up and hugged her.
"I'm scared," She said softly as she wrapped her arms around him tightly.
"I'll make sure nothing happens to you and Modurotoluwa. You are very brave and this will pass very soon," Olaoluwa said as he patted her back gently.
"Is Modurotoluwa okay?" Olaoluwa asked as he took a seat.
"Yes,the doctors had to sedate her so she could sleep. She was scared that something bad had happened to me when she saw my arm," Adebola replied.
"How is your arm?"
"It's fine. It is just a minor injury,"
"You had no problem hugging me so I believe you," Olaoluwa said and Adebola blushed. Adebola family entered the room and Olaoluwa switched to professional mode immediately while Adebola hugged her family members.
"Detective, how close are you to arresting the culprit?" Adebayo asked.
"Very close Sir, he has many loose ends and this is an advantage on our side. My team members are analysing the CCTV and I assure you that the culprit will arrested soon,"  Olaoluwa said politely.
"I called the IG of Police and he is already around. He arrived in Lagos this morning and we came to the hospital together. He is talking to your team members and he will be here soon." Adebayo said and Olaoluwa nodded nervously. The IG of police entered the room along with six armed policemen.
"I was just telling the detective about you,"  Adebayo said.
"He is my son. Adebola how are you?"
"Fine, thank you sir," Adebola replied with a smile.
"That's good. Boy, I need you to update me on the case and keep the press out of this."
"Okay Sir," Olaoluwa replied.
"Bayo, don't worry your daughter and granddaughter will be safe,"
"I trust you my friend," Adebayo said smiling.
"Bayo, let us go see the CCTV;  Temi and Aderenle, please go and sign the discharge papers; Ola stay here with Adebola." Mustapha Yakubu- the IG instructed and they all obeyed.
"Seriously, IG's son?"  Adebola said as she glared at Olaoluwa.
"I did not think it was important to mention,"
"Really?"  Adebola said raising her eyebrows.
"I am sorry, it's just that it is not something I am proud of,"
"YOU ARE THE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE'S SON AND YOU ARE NOT PROUD OF IT?" Adebola asked yelled.
"Illegitimate son. My dad and mom met at a club. My dad disappeared after that night and when my mum discovered she was pregnant, she was left with no choice than to raise me alone. When he became the commissioner of police, my mum went to his office and told him about me. It was not easy for mum to see my dad again after abandoning her but she had to do it because of me. A DNA test was done and it was confirmed that I am his son. He was happily married and he could not leave his wife so he started giving my mum a lot of money for child support. I am his only son,so I decided to follow my father's footsteps and be a police," Olaoluwa explained.
"Wow,I never thought uncle mustapha had a son. People don't even know about you. Why are you doing all this for him?"
"My mum said and I quote, he is your father, you have to be a good son. He is a respectable man and I want you to follow his footsteps. I always wanted to be a police so it wasn't difficult," Olaoluwa said.
"I am sorry for yelling at you,I was just surprised."
"It's okay," Olaoluwa said smiling.
"Mummy, I'm hungry," Modurotoluwa said as she scratched her eyes.
"Sweetie, you have to brush your teeth first," Adebola said as she reached into a pink bag to get Modurotoluwa's toothpaste and toothbrush.
"Okay mummy. Uncle Ola good morning,"
"Good morning baby, did you dream about me?"
"Hmmm,no"
"Really, then I am going to tickle you till you apologize,"  Olaoluwa said playfully.
"No,you won't. I did not do anything wrong," Modurotoluwa said grinning.
"Yes,I will"  Olaoluwa replied as he started tickling her.
"I'll report you to the police," Modurotoluwa said while laughing.
"Really, I'll love to see you try," Olaoluwa said as he continued to tickle Modurotoluwa and Adebola laughed.

It was few days after the hospital incident. Though, the police were still investigating, everything was back to normal. Helena and Aderenle sat on sofa as they played video games.
"Who taught you how to play?"  Aderenle asked.
"My brother," Helena replied.
"You have a brother?"  Aderenle asked and he dropped the game controller.
"Yeah,"
"Where does he live?"  Aderenle asked.
"Enugu,"
"Elder or younger,"
"Elder and younger,"
"How old are they?"
" Are we playing twenty one questions now because it's only you asking the questions," Helena joked.
"Helena I don't know anything about you and you know a lot about me."  Aderenle said with a serious face.
"You never asked," Helena shrugged.
"We are in a relationship, we shouldn't keep secrets from each other," Aderenle said sternly.
"Fine, ask me anything and I'll answer,"
"Do your parents also live at enugu?"
"Yes"
"Then, why are you in Lagos?"
"My dad wanted me to marry when I was in secondary school,so I had an agreement with my suitor that I'll marry him after my University. My dad refused because he didn't have the finances but the man agreed to sponsor me through school. After University, I decided that I didn't want to be the fifth wife of that man so I ran to Lagos. I thought I had escaped but he found me last year and he told me to refund his money,"
"How much is it?"
"Five million,"
"Five million? you studied accounting in the University of Nussuka. How come the money is five million?"
"He said he also calculated the money for the Swiss lace he bought for my mum and the money he has been giving my father for his upkeep,"  Helena replied.
" How much is left for you to pay?"
" Four million, five hundred and fifty naira,"
"Send his account number to me, I'll send the balance to him,"
"No,"
"No?"
"You can't do that. I cheated him , I made him pay for my school and I ran away. "
" Helena, I know but I want to pay," Aderenle insisted.
"No ,you can't. Please let's end this discussion,"
"Fine,"  Aderenle said annoyed.
"Can we continue?"  Helena asked and Aderenle snubbed her.
"Fine, I'll be in Sister B's room if you are looking for me," Helena said as she left the room to Adebola's room.

"Thank God you are here, which of this dresses can I wear?" Adebola said as she showed Helena three dresses.
"Erm,the black one is better,"  Helena said as she sat on a couch in the room.
"Really, but it's too long," Adebola said holding the cloth while facing the mirror.
"It's okay for a business meeting,"  Helena replied staring at the dress.
"I am not going for a business meeting, I am going for .......er......er......a date,"   Adebola said.
"A date? With who?"
"Promise me you won't tell anyone,"
"I won't. Who is it?"
"Olaoluwa." Adebola whispered.
"Who is Olaoluwa?"
"The detective in charge of the case."
"What! Is that even legal?" Helena said in shock.
"I don't care. He is nice to my daughter and I so when he asked me to dinner, I accepted."
"It's fine. You are an adult. Please be careful," Helena said in deep concern.
"Okay mum," Adebola replied and they laughed.
" Wear the red one, it is better for a date."  Helena said and Adebola nodded.

Adebola entered the eatery and she saw Olaoluwa sitting down at a very nice table. He was doing something on his phone so he didn't notice Adebola till she sat down.
"Hey,"   Adebola said.
"Hi, how are you?" Olaoluwa said as he dropped his phone on the table.
"Fine, what's up with you?"
"Nothing much. I've been busy lately because someone is threatening the most beautiful lady I have ever seen and her adorable daughter,"  Olaoluwa said.
"I have a thing against men who sweet talk women," Adebola said as she smiled
"Ohh really, I am just saying the truth,"  Olaoluwa replied.
"The truth?" Adebola said playfully.
"Jeez, woman can't you take a compliment," Olaoluwa said and they both laughed.
"Good evening, can I take your order please?" The waitress that they didn't notice was standing while they were talking, said.
"Erm,I want jollof rice and beef with salad." Adebola said glancing through the menu.
"I'll have the same,"
"Okay, what will you drink?" The waitress asked while she wrote down the order.
"Coke will be fine," Adebola replied.
"Malt,"  Olaoluwa replied and the waitress left.
"So, how is the case? Any progress?"   Adebola asked.
"I'm not meant to tell you anything about the case,"
"Pleaseeeee,"   Adebola pouted.
"We've been watching Mrs John for a while and I think she knows something about this man,"  Olaoluwa said.
"What! I don't believe you. My daughter lives with her for five years, why didn't she do anything to her?"
"Because she felt Modurotoluwa is an innocent girl."  Olaoluwa replied. The waitress brought their food and they had to pause the conversation till the waitress left.
"Adebola, we can't just rule out someone because she has been nice to you in the past,"  Olaoluwa explained.
"Okay when are you going to interrogate her,"  Adebola said as she took a sip of her Coke.
"Today,"
"Today?"
"Yeah, by 12pm." Olaoluwa replied nonchalantly.
"Wow, that's so early. I'll come with you," Adebola said in excitement.
"No,it's too dangerous."  Olaoluwa replied.
"It's not. Maybe she'll be honest when I ask her myself,"
"No, Adebola I can't. I can't take you to the lion's den,"  Olaoluwa said.
"But ........."
"So was Mo asleep when you left home?"  Olaoluwa asked changing the subject and Adebola smiled.
"Yeah,her bed time is 7pm."
************************************
Adebola opened her daughter's room gently to check up on her. She walked gently to her bed. She adjusted the pillow, blanket and AC so that Modurotoluwa could sleep comfortably. As she was leaving, she heard a whimper. She looked back and saw her daughter shaking vigorously.
"Baby, wake up."  Adebola said as she attempted to wake Modurotoluwa. She tried to wake her up again by patting her arm gently and Modurotoluwa woke up.
"Mummy,I had a bad dream," Modurotoluwa said as she wrapped her arms tightly around her mother.
"I know honey, it's okay,"  Adebola said as she patted her daughter's back.
"Mum, I want to....." Modurotoluwa said as she used her hands to cover her hands to cover her mouth. She ran to the bathroom to throw up. Adebola patted her back gently and rinse her face when Modurotoluwa was through. She then carried her back to bed and covered her body with the blanket.
"Are you okay?"  Adebola asked and she nodded. Adebola phone rang and when she picked it up to see check who was calling, she saw Olaoluwa's name. She accepted the call and placed the phone in-between her shoulder and her ear.
"Hey, missing me already,"  She asked with a smile.
"Lol, I just wanted to make sure you got home safely,"
"Yeah I did. You?"
"I'm on my way to Mrs John's apartment,"
"Ohh okay,be careful,"
"I will. Are you about to sleep?"
"No, I'm in Mo's room,she had a nightmare,"
"Is she okay?"  He asked in deep concern.
"Yes,she is,"
"Is she awake? can I speak to her?"
"Yes. Mo, Uncle Ola want to speak to you," Adebola said as she handed the phone over to her.
Adebola smiled when she heard Modurotoluwa laughing because of something Olaoluwa said to her.
************************************
Adebola put on the radio of her car, connected the Bluetooth to her phone's and smiled in satisfaction when Habitual by Justin Bieber started playing. She was on her way to office. Few minutes later, she heard a funny sound in her car and got down to check the cause of the sound. The road was unusually quiet. As she was checking the cause of the sound, she felt a cold metal on her neck.
"Don't make any noise and enter the car,"  A voice said.
"Please who are you? I'll give you what ever you want," Adebola panicked.
"Just enter the damn car," The person shouted.
"Fine,I'll enter," Adebola said as she proceeded to enter a red car parked directly in front of her car.  She looked back and saw the face of the person behind her.
"Mrs John?"  She said in shock.
