Chapter 7: Michael’s P.O.V.

I was so proud of myself. I really was. I was going to fix everything with Sam. Maybe even win her heart over.  I knew I could do it. I was so close to it once before. But then I had to screw everything up. Tomorrow was Monday. I’d walk her too school. Just like always. I’d carry her book bag too. Maybe she’ll even get a little school girl crush on me like Shay had on Calum. I would absolutely love that.

My phone began to ring and I looked down at it excitedly hoping it was Sam. No. It was freaking Luke.

“What?” I answered.

“Uh… hey. You know how you said that I should sing that song to Linzie?”

“Yeah?”

“I’m going to. Tomorrow. At school. Not in front of everybody, she’d kill me if I did that, but at our table.”

“Okay… what do I have to do with this?”

“I need your guys help with singing it…”

“Uh mate, do you think that’s a good idea?”

“Yes. I do.”

“Alright, well let’s learn this thing.”

“How are we supposed to learn an entire song in one night?” Calum complained as we were all sat on couches in my garage.

“We can do it. Besides you guys only really need to learn the chorus anyways.” Luke said.

“Bet you the girls could learn it, if not faster than us.” I teased.

“Fine. Fine. Let’s do this.” Calum whined.

“Are you ready?” I asked Luke as we walked up to Sam’s table with our guitars and Ash with his drumsticks.

“I think so. Yeah. I am.”

“Good. Good.”

“LET’S DO THIS!” Calum yelled, us laughing along with him.

We walked up to their table and pulled up some chairs. The girls looked up and their eyes grew wide at the sight of guitars.

“What are you doing?” Sam asked.

“Singing.” I replied.

“Um…”

“Just listen.” I told them.

We started to strum on our guitars and Luke began to sing. The girls watched intensely and Linzie’s eyes grew wide as she heard the first verse. They sat there quietly and listened but you could tell Linzie was getting very nervous.

The song ended and the girls slowly began to clap.

“That was… good…” Sam said.

“Yeah…it had a nice beat…” Vanessa said.

“IT WAS SO CUTE!” Shay yelled.

“Linzie… What do you think?” Luke asked. By now Linzie was on the verge of tears and nervousness.

“It was… um… nice.” Linzie replied.

“Oh… um… okay. Thanks.” Luke said kind of disappointedly.

“Michael, wanna go grab a soda with me?” Sam asked breaking some of the tension.

“Um… I guess so…” I answered.

Once we got out of hearing range she began yelling at me.

“WHY WOULD YOU LET HIM SING THAT?! YOU’VE NOW UPSET LUKE AND LINZIE! LINZIE’S UPSET NOW CAUSE SHE’S AFRAID CHRIS IS GONNA FIND OUT! AND LUKE IS SAD BECAUSE HE DOESN’T THINK LINZIE LIKED HIS SONG BUT IN REALITY SHE ACTUALLY PROBABLY REALLY LOVED IT!”

“So we aren’t going to go get soda?”

“MICHAEL!”

“Okay. Okay. I asked him if he thought it was really a good idea to sing it too her and he thought it was. I can’t make these decisions for him.”

She sighed; blowing the hair out of her face, “I guess you’re right. I wish he’d learn to back off some.”

“I can try to tell him that but he won’t listen.”
