The alarm rang as I pushed the thin blanket off my cold body, the heater in my room didn't work and the cost to buy a new one, well.
That was too much for me to afford..
I was going to change this room into olivias, it's the largest room with carpets that were only slightly stained by the people who lived here before us.
But then the heating stopped and I couldn't let olivia suffer in the cold.I'm not like that.
I hauled myself up from the bed and stood up, my feet pushing off the compacted carpet that wasn't fluffy, I had no slippers to put on.
As I turned to look in the small mirror I realised my cheek had a mascara tear mark. That's a result of me crying last night and yet, it out me at a sad ease that I could go out and find love without feeling guilty for Daniel.
I picked at my thumbs which is something I always did since I was little. Whenever I got nervous or stressed I would pick at it, Daniel was the only one who ever noticed.. I pulled out a button up shirt, a jumper and some black trousers that I put on, it was my coffee shop uniform. I had work today, the pay wasn't good but it was enough for me to keep going.
I made my way into olivias room and smiled up at her as I seen how she had already gotten herself dressed. Personally, I believe she knew we weren't in the best situation, I mean we didn't have enough money and the dad situation wasn't the greatest. Which is why, I believe she does things like this, she doesn't hassle me to help her but matures herself to do it. And that, however great it is is sad because she secretly knows how life isn't the greatest for me.
"Look mommy, I dressed myself but I wanted to wait for you to poor out the milk"
I smiled at her "well done via" she gave me a small hug before I followed her into the unnaturally small kitchen. I reached to the fridge and pulled out some milk which I poured in a bowl after adding the dollar stores own cereal.
She made a slight mess whilst eating it but cleaned it up herself before running into her room.
"Where you going via?" She ran back in with her kindergarten bag
"I'm ready for kindergarten" she smiled again, showing the tooth gap.
"Okay, lets go" i took her hand and walked out the apartment.

I poured out a cup of tea to a customer with a strangely large moustache, he didn't even thank or smile up at me as I handed him his cup. I bit my tongue to not say anything, growing up I was taught to always use manners, they were free anyway. It's rude not to use them.
He walked over to a table and seated himself as I leaned against the counter humming a quick tune as the manager of the small shop entered. He shot a look as to say get back to what your doing at me so I looked down at my feet and stood up straight, legs tensed.
"Can I have two coffees for me and miss polio mckenzie, she's in charge of the status of this shop, so I really need you to work extra hard now" the manager spoke as he walked over to the counter, whispering the end part of the sentence.I nodded as I to put on the coffee machine, grasping the overly large jug of mild in my hand, the manager still watching me.
The bell rung signalling there was a customer and sure enough there was.
I dropped the milk on the floor realising who it was
