*mckenzies pov*
About an hour later, the sun definitely at its peak, we were still laying on the outdoor sofas but now laughing at olivias excessive amount of sun cream that daniel put on her.
She came up running over to me, making us all laugh harder at her."Mommy, come play swing ball," she smiled pleading.
"Ok-okay, how can you see," I laughed looking at the sun cream in her eyelashes.
Keri and anna were both crying with laughter.
"Come here," I spoke through laughs to olivia. I wiped away the sun cream for her eyes and blended in some of the sun cream on her face.
"Ok, come on," she smiled dragging me up. I walked across the lawn to daniel who was playing swing ball.
"You're really good at applying sun cream," I said sarcastically making daniel grin.
"She kept asking for more," daniel spoke replying still smiling.
"You could of pretended," I laughed, he 'Oh'd then nodded.
"I'll get you a racket mommy," olivia spoke before running across the lawn, onto the pavement to retrieve the racket that was near the backdoor step.
Suddenly she fell, smacking her knees off of the concrete, crying immediately.Daniel and I ran over fast, she was crying as little blood trailed down her legs. Keri came around the corner.
"Do you have any plasters?" I asked her calmly.
Keri thought for a moment before shaking her head 'no.'
I nodded, "I'll go get you a plaster via," I spoke to her, kissing her on the head before exiting the back garden gate, on my way to the corner shop that was around 5 minutes away.
The way I walked was the way that I used to walk from my house to daniels. My house was also 5 minutes away from the corner shop but in fact in the opposite direction.
I pushed open the door, hearing the oddly familiar bell before going to the back of the shop where the first aid used to be. And sure enough it was still there.I picked out a small pack of plasters, looking down before walking, bumping into someone-
I looked up-
Oh my god.Fuck
Shit
Oh my-
"M- Mckenzie!?" the woman in front of me spoke, my mom.
"M-mom?" I spoke, quieter on my behalf.
She pulled me into a hug but I just shrugged her off, no matter how much I wanted that over the years, she was cruel to me.
"Excuse me," I spoke, walking to the counter, placing the pack of plasters on the counter for the man to scan it.
But of course the new employee was half asleep on his chair. I coughed under my breath before he noticed my presence and sat up.
I watched from my side view as my mother came and stood next to me, should I call her mom?
"It's on me," she spoke to the counter man.
"How kind," I spoke sarcastically, rudely, before picking them up and making my way out of the shop.
"I'm sorry!" Was all I heard before the door slammed.
I walked fast back to the Seavey home. I didn't want to go there however, I wanted to be alone. But, olivia was in need so i made my way back there, I was emotionally in shock.
I pushed the back gate open and walked around, handing Keri the pack of plasters before she bent down and put it on olivias knee. Olivia was already back to smiling and jumping around, anna laughed but I just couldn't. I couldn't shake it.
I stayed outside for about 20 minutes before I came up with the excuse that I didn't feel well or something like that and walked back inside, dumping my shocked body on the familiar daniel Seavey bed placed neatly to his window. And there I concentrated on only my breathing so I didn't burst out into tears, which I believe was well deserved.
My mother and father growing up stuck mostly to themselves, not socialising with many. They were not strict Christians however some rules apparently were made to be followed. And my rule breaking, of having olivia went against that, and so they forced me out. I suppose it was to follow tradition. I know they loved me, perhaps still do. I was their only child and am as far as I am aware, but to force me out was wrong.
Seeing my mother today was overwhelming, because I had not seen her in 5 years, my own mother.
I didn't know how to react. There was a knock on the door so I sat up, brushing a single tear away from under my eye before saying 'come in.'
Daniel opened the door, kindness spread across his face, before closing the door behind him carefully.
He walked over to his bed before sitting next to me, pulling me gently on him before stroking my hair.
"Kenz, what's wrong?" He spoke in the kindest voice...
