Book: Charity Case... Original Story
Chapter 11: Just Come Home
Word Count: 2585"Where do you think you're going?" Ethan heard just before he was about to open the door. He cursed lightly, hand gripping the handle and wanting nothing more than to just ignore his dad and walk straight out the door. He needed to go see Alec and he didn't have time to have an argument with his father.
"I'm going to see my friends." He lied, knowing that wasn't a good excuse and that there was no way he was going to be allowed to leave. He hadn't turned around yet, still staring at the dull, brown door in front of him. If only he had been seconds quicker, he could have avoided this.
Pierce sighed, "I know you're lying and... if you're going to see Alec than I'm coming with you."
Ethan finally turned around, eyes narrowed. The one thing Alec didn't want was to see Pierce so there was no way Ethan was going to bring his father with him who was probably just going to yell at Alec and try and send him away, somewhere out of Ethan's reach. "You're kind of the last person he wants to see right now." He snapped, moving away from the door. "I guess I'm not going than." He mumbled sourly, planning on just sneaking out later but being more careful.
"Ethan... what me and your mother said was in the heat of the moment. I'm worried about him just as much as you are and I just want to make sure he's okay. I'm not going to force him to come back here but I want to try and convince. I've been looking after this kid for years now and I want him to be safe." Pierce explained, his voice honest and eyes sad, obviously regretting what he said. Ethan still didn't know how his mum felt. They hadn't talked since that morning. Both were angry at the other.
Ethan pursed his lips and looked down at the floor in thought. He wanted Alec to come back and Pierce was saying he could but what if he was lying? Just trying to get over there to do exactly what Alec thought he was going to do. "How do I know you're not lying? If I break his trust he won't forgive me." Alec didn't have many people in his life he could trust and Ethan would be damned if wasn't one of them.
"I have never in my life lied to you." That was another truthful statement. Pierce had always thought his relationship with his son would be stronger if he could always trust him, so it was always the truth, even if Ethan had lied to him he would never do it to him. "I promise you that I'm not the bad guy. I just want him to come home." They stood in silence as Ethan thought about what he was going to do once again. "Ethan, please."
"Fine but I swear to god if you're lying to me I will never forgive you." Ethan was completely serious and Pierce could tell. He hadn't known they were such good friends that Ethan was this protective over him. Pierce nodded and grabbed his car keys, opening the front door for Ethan to walk through and they walked to the car. "Does mum know about this?"
