Chapter 12: Be With Me
Word Count: 1750The dinner table was quiet as the four ate in silence. At least it was better than arguing. Alec could feel the tension in the room and it was all coming from the lady to the left of him. She couldn't make it anymore obvious that she wasn't happy but honestly, Alec could care less at this point.
He could care less about her. Pierce was acting normal and like nothing had happened and Ethan kept caressing his foot under the table. It was getting harder and harder to keep himself from just staring at the other male with the biggest, love sick smile.
Dinner was soon over and Alec was back in his room, getting ready to go to bed. Of course he wouldn't be there for long before he made his way to Ethan's room to sleep for the night. He didn't think he could get a good nights sleep unless he had him in his arms.
A throat being cleared made him turn around and he held in a sigh as he saw Pierce. Not that he didn't want to talk to him, he just really wanted to go to Ethan's room. "What can I do for you?"
"I just wanted to make sure you were okay. This being your first night back and everything." He smiled softly and Alec appreciated that the older man came and checked up on him.
"Yeah, dude. I'm all good. I'm not gonna leave in the middle of the night." Unless I hear you and your wife talking shit about me again, he thought with slight bitterness. "You don't need to worry about me."
"Is that your catchphrase?" Pierce leaned against the door way as he asked. "I don't think I've heard anyone say that as much as I've heard you say it."
"I gotta keep saying it until you take it seriously. In case you haven't noticed, you kinda still treat me like I'm a little kid."
"Because you are a kid. I think your the one that forgets that sometimes. You're allowed to have other people take care of you sometimes." Pierce walked over to him and pat his shoulder comfortingly. "Get some sleep. I'm sure you've had a very tiring day."
"Yeah... goodnight." He responded, not moving until he door was fully closed and he was left alone in the large, quiet room. He rolled back onto his bed and found himself staring up at the ceiling, no cracks to make any sort of picture out of, just a smooth, white ceiling. He couldn't go to Ethan's room just yet. He had to wait until Pierce and Samantha went to bed, which could range from one hour to multiple.
He picked out his phone and went to Jackson's contact, sending him a quick message that he was okay and he didn't have to expect him to come back. Jackson really was a good friend and he didn't know what he would do without him.
