Days had gone by since Alec had started staying with John. He thought it was only going to be for one night but since Pierce didn't have another place lined up, John was nice enough to let him stay.

They hadn't connected very much. Alec wasn't his usual self and kept quiet. John has tried his best to get to know him but the teenager was making it difficult. John did understand. He couldn't expect Alec to just open up to him within the first couple days of meeting him. That was unrealistic.

They were sitting down on the couch together, a burger in each hands and the football on the television. Alec had to admit, he enjoyed the dinners here compared to the Downing household far more. It was chill here and he didn't have to feel Samantha's intense glare on him the whole time.

The only thing that sucked was that he was missing Ethan, more than he could have imagined. They were texting and calling each other every day but it wasn't the same. He wanted to see him and touch him. He had been grounded by Samantha so he wasn't allowed to go anywhere, especially to go see his trouble maker of a boyfriend, Samantha's words not his.

"So, kid. Have you thought about what you're going to do after school?" John was the one who started the conversation. If he wanted any chatter, that's what he had to do.

Alec glanced over at him, swallowing the chewed up food in his mouth. "No clue. I don't plan things. What happens, happens." He answered. "And stop calling me kid. I'm not a kid." He grumbled.

"Anyone who is younger then me is a kid." John shrugged, taking a bite of his burger. "Get used to it because I ain't calling you anything else."

"Whatever you say old man." He was expecting for some snappy remark back but instead he got a laugh. He looked at John with surprise.

"You're right about that one." He said, keeping his eyes on the television. The atmosphere was calm and Alec enjoyed it. The older man was a chill guy and they hadn't had one argument yet, surprisingly. He wiped his hands on his already dirty jeans when he finished the burger. "You've been here three nights and so far, we've had pizza... twice and a burger. You're going to look like me if I keep feeding you this way." He patted his oversized stomach.

"Least I'll be fat and happy." Alec snickered.

"Tomorrow night. I'm cooking a plate of vegetables and you're going to eat them and you're going to enjoy them." He spoke though it seemed he was speaking to himself. He stood up and picked up his rubbish. "That means I have to go shopping... damn." He mumbled as he left the room.

Alec shook his head. He swore the older man was more immature then he was.

Over at the Downing household, Ethan hadn't been having a good time. Not only was he ignoring his parents but he was also stuck in his room doing nothing. He wasn't allowed to see Alec and he wasn't allowed to see his friends. It was total bullshit.
