Apologies, but this chapter does come with an assault trigger warning. The content in this chapter may be disturbing for some, especially to younger readers.
Sanem's body quivered in fear and she tried to pull herself out of the embrace of her captor but she was tired. It seemed all the work and the array of emotions she had been feeling recently were finally taking its toll on her physically. She struggled against the hold placed on her by him but he simply tightened his grip. His touch was practically bruising her and Sanem felt her blood run cold. She was scared, unlike she had ever been before.
"You smell fantastic." He ran his nose against her neck and Sanem winced visibly. As soon as the man opened his mouth, Sanem deciphered two things. One – the man had been heavily drinking and two - she figured out who exactly the man was. And it was safe to say that she was disgusted by this invasion of her personal space.
The man holding her captive was no other than the recent bane of her life – Enzo Fabri.
"Mr. Fabri, let go of me." She fought his hold more frantically but he dragged her further into the darkness, this time with one hand clamped firmly against her mouth. She tried to scream against his hand but it was to no use. With the music playing in the distance alongside people's loud chatter, it was virtually impossible to hear Sanem even if she were to scream without the restriction caused by Fabri's hand.
"You're going to pay for humiliating me, Sanem, darling." Fabri sneered and pushed Sanem against a wall. Her body collided heavily against the rough exterior and she winced loudly at the painful contact. "Things could have been different, you know?"
It seemed Fabri was talking to himself, an inner monologue of sorts. The gears in his head were turning back to the past, his mind reflecting back on the infatuation he had once possessed for Sanem. But after Sanem had shown her evident care for Can Divit, a love for power strengthened within Fabri. No longer did he hang on her words or surrender himself into helping her. No longer did he cherish that whimsical tone in her voice nor did he speak her name with great admiration. "When things ended with you and Can, I thought this-" Fabri pointed at the little space between their tightly pressed together bodies. "Could have been something. I could have given you everything." His fingers floated across Sanem's cheek and she abruptly turned her head in an attempt to stop him from touching her.
"Don't touch me." As his hand slipped from her lips, Sanem was able to spit out her disgust for Fabri. However, Sanem's defiance only made his movements all the more aggressive ... in that moment, Fabri did the unthinkable – even for himself – and slapped Sanem. Her head jerked to the left in surprise and tears sprung to her eyes as the sting on her cheek grew more and more painful. She'd never been hit like that ... never by her parents or by her peers at school and the feeling was shocking, completely foreign to her.
At first, it seemed even a drunk Fabri felt guilty for lashing out on her. He paused momentarily, almost as if he were trying to let recent events sink in. But within seconds, he realised how satisfying it was to see Sanem's big, pleading eyes staring back at him. That slap has given him a weird thrill, a sort of buzz he had never gotten from anything else and suddenly, that earlier guilt was gone.
"Shut up! I'm done with you thinking that you're the boss around here. You're nothing, nothing but a pretty face – only really good for one thing."
Before Sanem could even get over the fact that Fabri had actually hit her, his mouth was pressed against her own. Maintaining all the strength she could muster, Sanem sucked her lips inwards in an attempt to stop herself from kissing him back. But Fabri seizes her wrist tightly, like he was seconds from snapping it in half, and Sanem's mouth slipped open as she let out a sharp inhale stimulated by the pain
"Let ... me ... go!" Sanem thrashed against him but she was beginning to lose her sense of fight. His hands were all over her and it made her feel disgusting.
"You are a beautiful thing, aren't you?" Fabri purred perversely into her ear. "It's a shame things couldn't have ended how I wanted them to." He was toying with the straps of her dress, hitching the hem further and further up her bare legs. Usually, she would have been stronger, fought back harder, but her lack of sleep was playing to her disadvantage; her body was going slump between the wall and Fabri. In fact, the whole encounter was making her weak ... sleepy (almost as if she was going to fall unconscious)
His coarse, whisky drenched tongue lapped at her skin like a hungry child with a lollipop. He was ravenous to taste every inch of her and all Sanem could do was let the silent tears stream down her face. Every time she grew tired of fighting him, her eyes closed shut. She saw Can's face in her head and she desperately yearned for him to come and save her from the nightmare that had come to life. But, every time Fabri noticed her eyes were closed, he jerked her head backward into the concrete, demanding that she open them. She didn't want to because every time that she did, that image of her hero, Can, would fizzle away and she was forced to see Fabri's narcissistic face light up with power and lust. But her unwillingness to give into him just fuelled his rage. His restrain grew less and less controlled until Sanem was certain that blood was running from the back of her head and into the cracks on the grimy wall behind her.
It became too much and Sanem's head looked forward like that of a rag doll. There, she had accepted that this was how it ended ... this was how she lost her virginity. It wasn't going to be in that idealistic way that she envisioned. There were no candles, no rose petals ... no Can. This monstrosity was minutes from ruining her. But before she could admit complete defeat, Sanem saw the light at the end of the tunnel ... or she heard it.
Sanem heard the blurred voices of Osman, Ayhan and Leyla coming up from the kitchen and that was all the strength she needed. She was reminded of the goodness in the world and how in every fairytale, the good always overcame the bad. With one large exhale and a sharp lift of her knee, Sanem hit Fabri where the sun didn't shine and ran as fast her shaky legs could carry her and straight into the arms of her beloved sister.
