"How long has he been treating you like that?" Harvey asked me, sadly.
"I don't know." I mumbled.
"Lana, how long?"
"Twelve years." I said quietly. Harvey looked even more angry.
"He's been doing this to you for twelve years?!" he yelled.
"Harvey, calm down. It wasn't that bad until a few years ago." I frowned.
"That doesn't make it okay, Lana." Harvey looked at me, with sad eyes. Peter then came walking out of the principal's office. We were all being interviewed for our sides of the story, as they fought on school grounds. Peter had a glare on his bruised face. "Mr. Mills?" mrs. Rena beckoned for Harvey to come into her office. I waited for about fifteen minutes before Harvey finally came out. He looked upset. It was my turn now.
"Ms. Gessony, could you please tell me what happened?" she asked, and that was exactly what I did. I told her that Peter was upset that I rejected him, leaving out his unkind words, and how Harvey punched him, starting the fight. She thought for a moment before finally saying, "Thank you."
"So, I'm not in trouble?", I asked confused.
"Definitely not, you were just a witness." she gave a small smile. With that, I picked up my backpack and headed to see if Harvey was home yet.
"Hey Lana."Tilly greeted me. I hugged her and she led me to Max and Harvey's room. Max was sitting alone on his bed. "Where's Harvey?" I asked, taking a seat next to him. Max frowned. "He's talking to my mom right now."
"Do you know what his punishment is?" I asked, concerned.
"He's suspended for a few days." I frowned; "He'll be back next week," Max continued.
"Harvey told me about Peter."
"What about him?"
"How he was treating you. I can't believe he acted like that. I'm sorry, Lana. I really didn't know." he told me, sincerely. I forced a faint smile, "It's okay." The two of us sat in silence before Harvey finally came in. "Well, my mom's letting me off the hook because she thinks the suspension is enough punishment. Though, I have to drive Tilly to gymnastics every day, so it's not that ba-" I interrupted him by giving him big hug. "Thank you," I mumbled. We stood like that for a few minutes until we noticed how awkward it was for Max. "I should probably go home now." I said, grabbing my backpack and walking to my house.
"Why are you home so late?" My dad questioned when I walked in.
"Harvey got in a bit of trouble so I decided to stop by at the Mills." he nodded.
"Sarah is in your room." he said, gesturing to the stairs. I then headed upstairs and went into my room. "Why do you look so sad?" she questioned. I told her what happened and everything about Peter. It was hard keeping all the things he had ever said to me to myself. My eyes stared to water and she gave me a big, comforting hug. I was happy to have a friend like her.Liked by: Sarahdfallon and 1,387 others
