Pain.

That was all he could feel.

Everything went by like a blur. The lights that hung above him as he passed by stung his eyes.

He couldn't hear anything but what he was desperate enough to call his breathing even if it was barely a breath.

Every breath was a struggle. Every breath he took was as if a knife stabbed his lung, it made him feel like they were going to tear apart.

He could feel the metallic taste of blood rising up his throat. Blood splattered onto his shirt as he coughed,

He clutched onto his chest, his heart was hurting. He could hear his heartbeat fading away, he was scared.

"They'll save you. Please hold on," Johnny reassured, placing his hand onto the railings of the bed.

Taeyong stared at Johnny as the tears slowly pooled in his eyes, running with the surgeons to the operating room.

He knew that Johnny was just as scared, maybe even more.

Taeyong knew he wouldn't make it it as much as he wanted to. He took his hand with a faint voice, he said, "Johnny,"

Johnny looked at Taeyong with the fondest smile. He smiled as brightly as he could because he didn't want his tears to be Taeyong's final glimpse of him.

"Yeah?" He managed to say, trying to not choke on his own words. He brushed his hand softly over Taeyong's forehead, ignoring the blood that smudged across his hand.

Taeyong didn't know what got over him but he felt his own tears flow down his cheeks, dampening the pillow his head laid on.

The feeling he encountered wasn't explainable. He crumbled at his touch, the thought that he was cared and loved but the worst part was that he realised this when he was going to die.

He used the very little energy he had left and took Johnny's wrist, his fingernails dug into his skin.

"Please forgive me,"

That was all Taeyong could say before his hand fell to his side.

And he shut his eyes.

Johnny stared at the younger in shock, his mind shutting out what he knew had already happened.

What does this mean? Was he just gone like that? Was he going to be saved? Was he too late to save him?

For a moment that only lasted a second, though it felt like a minute, Johnny couldn't make a single sound.

He let out a cry. He wasn't able to think at all, he was begging the younger to wake up.

That was where the nurses had to hold him back as he watched the bed disappear into a operating room.

His heart was aching. A million questions filled his mind, a million things he wished he had done with him.

He feared the future without Taeyong. He had spent his entire life with the younger.

He was forced to wait in the waiting room. He felt blank, he stared at the ceiling. He felt exhausted,

He felt so many things at once, it made him regret being born with emotions. It was the worst.

Why had this happen? Was this some sick punishment from the gods? Why punish Taeyong?

If only Johnny could have just actually cared more about him more back then this wouldn't have happened.

If he could just stop being all about work every second of the day then this wouldn't have happened.

If he had argued just a little longer, emphasising why Taeyong shouldn't have left then his wouldn't have happened.

If he had been a bit more patient with his stubborn manner then this wouldn't have happened.

If only he has realised Taeyong was more important than anything else in his life,

He couldn't help but burst into tears again. The more he thought, the more he sank into an ocean of regret and sadness.

The doctors didn't spend more than 2 hours in there. They couldn't do anything after he's been declared dead as soon as they stepped into the room.

"Johnny Seo?" Johnny's head perked up at the sound of the doctor. He jumped up from he chair and attempted to rush to him.

The doctor hurried towards Johnny before he could take another step, motioning for him to remain seated.

"How is he?" Johnny asked, his eyes already filled with tears before the doctor could even speak,

"I'm sorry,"

Johnny couldn't hear anything beyond that point. He already knew how the rest of the statement would go.

He was filled with anger and disbelief. He was frustrated with himself and everyone that could've saved him,

"Can I see him?" Johnny interrupted the doctor's explanation, not wanting to hear another moment of blabbering from him.

The doctor gulped and nodded, showing him to the room they had left the younger's body in.

Johnny stopped before he could enter the room.

That was it.

If he saw him dead, he'd only be able to remember that way, he wouldn't have anything else left of him.

Johnny gulped, forcing himself to hold back his tears and jam his thoughts to the back of his head. He needed to see him.

He entered the room with hesitation, walking towards the edge of the bed slowly.

Watching the life gone in his body, his pale and cold skin. Johnny couldn't help but cry harder, trying to sob as quietly as possible.

He wanted to take the younger's hand but he didn't dare to lay a finger on him. He was in denial.

He couldn't have been gone, he can't be dead just like that. It was just too sudden. There had to be something he could've done.

He wiped his tears, taking a deep breath.

"I will save you, Taeyong." He decided, hoping Taeyong could hear his words and work with him too.

"I have to,"
