The Coffee Shop

"So what made you want to come here?" Rose asks tapping her fingers against the wooden table, chin resting on her palm as we stare out the window.

"Not sure." I reply watching the people walking outside. "It seemed like a nice place to explore."

"You don't say." Rose says with a nod. "I'm not complaining though. It's really nice here."

Our conversation is interrupted when a waiter comes to our table, greeting us with a slight bow. "Hello." He says with a smile, pen and notebook in his hand. "What would you like to drink today?"

"Oh?" I say surprised, not expecting to have a waiter at all. How did I miss him when we walked in?

Noticing my reaction, Rose lets out a chuckle and picks up the menu in front of us, scanning it quickly before she smiles at the young man and speaks up.

"We'll take two of these." Rose says pointing at the menu and handing it to the boy, who writes our order in his notebook and hurries to the cashier.

I give Rose a grateful nod and she smiles.

"This cafe is different from our regular cafés." I say examining the decorations inside.

Most cafes have a similar style and ambience, but this one somehow feels special, it gives off a different feeling compared to the other cafes we've been to.

"Of course it is." Rose says and I turn to face her, slightly raising a brow. "If I'm not mistaken, this is a Korean style cafe."

My brows furrow together as I process what she said. "Korean?" I repeat and she nods slightly.

"That's why I'm surprised you wanted to come here." She adds, and before she can say anything else, the young waiter hands us our drinks and we mutter our thanks before I bring my drink closer and examine it.

"What's this?" I ask curiously eyeing the bubbles at the bottom.

"It's called boba tea." Rose replies happily sipping her drink. "It's really good."

My eyes widen as I try it and the squishy bubble comes up the straw, my teeth easily squishing the thing.

"Woah. What are the little bubbles?" I ask surprised.

"They are Tapioca balls." Rose says with a chuckle, proceeding to give me a brief history lesson on the famous Boba tea. It's good right?" She adds and I nod, continuing to drink.

After we finish, we pay and start making our way to the university, my eyes lingering on the coffee place one last time before it's completely out of sight.

"If I get addicted to this thing, I'm blaming you." I say playfully glaring at Rose who laughs in response and shakes her head.

"Then we can be addicted together." She says wiggling her brows with a teasing smile.

"See you later?" I ask, stopping before I enter my class.

"I can't today." Rose says looking at the pink note sticking out from her binder. "I forgot that I have a study session today." She adds with a pout.

"No worries." I say with a smile. "And have fun."

Rose rolls her eyes in response and lets out a small huff as she turns on her heels and starts walking away.
