My back lays flat against a soft surface, the soft grass around me dancing smoothly to the sound of the wind. Propping myself on my elbows, I look at blue sky above, the vast space adorned with fluffy clouds painted with a pastel yellow hue.Taking a deep breath, I lay back on the grass, blinking slowly and enjoying the peaceful scenery. When my eyes open again, I see a face looking down at me with a smile, but the face is covered by shadows as the sunlight shines brightly behind the person, giving him a warm glow that matches the sky above us.
Said person mutters something intangible, and I watch with a frown as their lips form words that I can't understand, yet somehow I give him a small smile back.
But before I can reply or take a good look at their face, the person straitens their back and starts walking away, flashing me one last smile as he turns his head back to look at me one more time before he disappears.
Wait!
I find myself reach out, but it's too late, the golden light around shines brighter until it changes to white, the intensity so bright, that I have to close my eyes and turn my face to the side.
With a last beam, everything turns to darkness, leaving me with a sensation like I'm floating in nothingness.
I wake up with a jolt, my outstretched hand reaching for something in front of me.
It takes me a while to take in my surroundings, still trapped in a daze until my hand comes back to my side and runs through the soft fabric underneath me, stopping when it makes contact with a colder piece of fabric.
The cold fabric, makes my eyes flutter open, but still, I lay on the same position for a bit more, staring at the blank ceiling above me.
Once I'm awake enough, I slowly sit up and scoot away from my spot, frowning when I notice a dark spot on my pillow.
My finger gently touches the spot before it instinctively reaches for my cheek and wipes my tears away.
What is this? I think to myself staring at my wet fingertips. Why am I crying?
Bringing my legs to my chest, I rest my head on top of my knees and try to remember what the dream was about but my mind is blank.
Frustrated, I let out a sigh and grab my phone to look at the time, eyes widening when they read the numbers on the screen.
I'm going to be late!
Without a second thought, I throw the blankets off me and rush to get my morning routine started.
Thankfully, the cold water brings me back to my senses and soon I'm walking out the door of my apartment.
I find myself smiling as I hear the familiar sound of the busy streets around me, something about the sky above me catching my attention as I walk. I feel a tingly feeling in the back of my brain, but I cant tell why I'm so drawn to the sky.
My attention is refocused when I reach the university gates and meet up with my friend, who is currently leaning against the wall.
"You're late." She says standing up and giving me an amused smile. "You're never late."
"Yeah. Sorry about that." I say fixing my hair as we walk in. "I just got distracted and lost track of time."
"That's so unlike you." She says chuckling slightly and shaking her head. "I hope you didn't forget our assignment."
She says and I pause for a second, quickly shuffling through my papers and letting out a relieved sigh when I find it.
"Got it." I say with a victorious smile.
"Good, this is an important grade." She says as we step into the classroom.
The big room echoes with voices as my friend and I quietly leave our assignments on the desk at the front, making our way up the different levels filled with rows of desks until we reach our usual spot.
Class hasn't started yet so we still have some time to get settled, my eyes momentarily drift to the window next to me before they come back to my friend Rose, who takes a seat next to me and starts rambling about what she did the day before, but I don't really listen to what she's saying.
It's not that I didn't care about what she was saying, it's just that my mind was occupied with something different.
I only notice the professor walked in when Rose quiets down and looks to the front.
"I'm glad to see you turned your papers in." Our professor says with a nod, his hands skimming through the pages. "Now to start with the lesson..."
As he talks, I look outside the window and watch as the fluffy white clouds drift in the sky, gently being pushed by the wind., my mind drifting along with them as they gracefully glide across the sky.
Without realizing it, my eyes slowly start to close, my head limply dropping down.
In that moment, a familiar image flashes into my mind, making me snap my head up.
What was that? I think to myself rubbing my temple and ignoring the weird look Rose is giving me.
It was faint but it was there.....
A trace of the mysterious person's smile.
The first clue I have to find what my dream was about.
Unconsciously, I find myself smiling too as I grab a pencil and start doodling something in my notebook.
It takes a while, but when I finish, I can't help smiling to myself. It may not be the best drawing in the world, but I tried my best, and hopefully this will help me remember.
During the rest of the period, my eyes remain glued to the drawing, the wheels in brain turning as I try to recall anything else, but unfortunately, nothing comes.
With a defeated sigh, I put my pencil away and lean my head on my hand.
Well, anything is something...
Who knows what might come....
What do you so far?
