He appeared as a silhouette in my dream along with a warm summer breeze.
But just as he came, he disappeared.
Taking with him half of me.
When the morning came, I could not remember his face.
Still, his warmth remains.
"Who are...
At first everything is pitch black, with only muffled sounds filling the air here and there, but with each passing second of concentration, everything comes into focus.
His smile.
The last thing I remember before falling asleep is his smile, still forming words that I can't comprehend, but the setting now is completely different from before, the boy nowhere in sight, instead replaced with an unfamiliar place.
Warm sunlight softly shines through the big glass window on the side, spreading shadows across the dark wooden floor as it shines on the sky.
But the thing that stands out the most, is the strong scent of coffee, the pleasant aroma awakening my senses.
With a small smile, I look up and let my eyes wonder around the place.
A coffee shop.
The place is small and judging by the small amount of people in the cafe, it's not rush hour, adding to the serene atmosphere of the place. The big windows that cover almost the whole wall, allow you to peer at the trees outside, and the cushions added underneath the window, make it a perfect place for reading.
Overall, the small coffee shop feels warm and cozy.
I watch as different people take sips of their drinks, typing away on their computers or talking in the phone, but the person that stands out the most, is the guy sitting next to the window.
Something about him, makes me look back at him, though I can't quite place my finger on what it is.
His hand holds up his book, elbow resting on the table for support, his other hand placing the dark liquid in the plastic container back on the table. The side of his face is illuminated by the sun, a warm yellow glow emitting from him, making it look like he came out straight out of the scene of a movie.
Although his face is partially covered by the book, something about him feels familiar, drawing me towards him.
Hesitantly, I take a step in his direction, the wooden floor creaking softly underneath me. With a small yelp, I close my eyes tightly and stand still, prying one eye to peek at the guy and see if he noticed me.
He glances up from his book, slightly quirking a brow as we make contact, my heart rate picking up as his eyes slowly crease into crescents.
He moves away from the window, scooting to the side so that the sun doesn't shine on his face anymore, and my eyes have to readjust to the new lighting, focused on every move that he makes. Everything seems to slow down as he starts to put the book down, so slow that it feels like an eternity.
Just as the book reaches a point where his face becomes visible....
"Wake up! We're going to be late!" Rose says waking me with a jolt.
"What?" I say in high alert, disoriented from the sudden loudness.
My eyes open to see Rose pacing around my room, quickly putting some things on my bed.
"What time is it?" I ask rubbing my eyes.
"8:15." Rose says.
"Oh my-" I don't even finish my sentence. Instead I'm on my feet rushing to get dressed.
Once I'm almost done, I grab my phone and press the power button, narrowing my eyes as I read the screen, hearing the sound of footsteps hurrying away.
"Rose! It's Saturday!" I say groaning and sitting on my bed.
Her red hair peaks though the door frame before walking closer to me.
"Sorry, I just thought we could have some fun today." She says attempting to give me side hug but I move to the side with a huff and slightly hit her with a pillow instead.
Rose lets out a small squeal as the soft pillow hits her, straitening her back as she turns to face me again. "Besides, why are you so upset? it's not like you had plans anyways." She says crossing her arms over her chest.
My brows crease into a frown as her words settle in brain, my thoughts about to drift before I stop, looking at Rode who glances at me and smiles in victory when I don't respond. She knows I can't argue with that...
"You could have just told me that you wanted to hang out." I say with a huff.
"Right. Cause that would totally work." She says slightly rolling her eyes.
"Well, what do you want to do then?" I ask and she quickly stands up, pulling my arm with all her strength pulling me to my feet.
"Let's get some coffee!" She says and I just nod grabbing my keys on our way out.
There is a Starbucks a few blocks away, so it doesn't take long to reach it.
As we enter, I stop by the entrance of the shop, frowning as I feel the familiar tingle in my brain.
Im pretty sure I was dreaming, but, what was the dream about?
Before I have time to dwell on it, I start moving again, noticing that Rose is almost ready to order.
As we wait for our order, we take a seat at one of the tables, and I find myself absentmindedly looking around the coffee shop, the dream suddenly coming back like a huge wave of water poured over my brain.
That's right! I dreamt with a coffee shop! Though this one is completely different from the one in my dream.
Rose stands up and hands me my coffee without saying a word. I glance at her and notice that she is typing away on her phone, probably texting someone, giving me the perfect opportunity to put my thoughts together.
I wonder if it was the same person. I think to myself taking a sip from my drink.
So far, I can't recall the mysterious person's face but if I could just see it and remember it, maybe I could find him again...
