Ba dum...Ba dum....
Ba dum...
The sound of my heart thumping gets louder and resonates through my body as my eyes slowly flutter open, the continuous sound keeping the same pace as I shift so I can lay on my back, my gaze landing on the turning fan above me.
My eyes follow the pale light peeking through the window, the bright sunlight from earlier replaced by the moon's blue glow.
How long was I asleep? I wonder, but don't bother to look at the time since it's probably late anyways.
Instead, my body remains frozen in place, my mind blank as I wait for my senses to fully wake up.
There was another dream....
I recall, bringing a hand to the side of my head as I slowly sit up, the bed creaking loudly as my body slowly twists to the side and my hand reaches out next to me to turn on the light on the nightstand.
I better get to work before it starts fading.
Pushing a strand of hair behind my ear, my hand instinctively moves down to the drawer to get my sketch book.
The pen makes a clicking sound as I press the small button, the smooth surface repeatedly tapping my chin as I try to recall what happened in my dream.
By now the dream has started to fade, but I'm pretty sure I can make out the bits and pieces that remain.
Closing my eyes, I take in a deep breath and start drawing, letting my hand move on its own.
The blank paper is slowly filled with various lines, weaving together until they start to form a picture. At first I'm not sure of what I'm drawing, but as my hand stops moving, my eyes stay glued to the lines until they make out the shape of what I drew, slightly widening at the scene.
A boy and a girl sit together at a table from the coffee shop.
It's mostly made of lines so their faces remain blank but it's enough to bring back the dream, slowly helping me to remember the first conversation I had with the mysterious guy.
My eyes blankly stare at the notebook, my cheeks heating up as I recall the awkward conversation.
Ugh. I say with a slight groan, rubbing my face with my hands. That did not really go as planned.
How could I forget the last part when it was so awkward?!? I think burying my face in my pillow.
The soft grey blanket shifts under me as I bring my legs to my chest and let out a small sigh.
Then again what was I really expecting?
As I lift up my eyes, the enticing moonlight once again catches my attention, inviting me to take step closer, so without much thought, I grab my sketchbook and go sit by the window.
The night breeze softly blows outside, adding to the peacefulness and quietness of the night, since not many people are out at this time, and again my thoughts drift to the image etched on the paper.
It sure didn't feel like I slept very long long, but time says otherwise.
My index finger absentmindedly traces the shapes of the drawing, the drawing almost coming to life as the moonlight illuminates it.
I'll be seeing you around...
His voice echoes. That was the last thing he said before he left, leaving me to wonder about the meaning of his words.
Are you real? I think to myself looking up at the night sky.
Even if he were to be real, would that make a difference?
Maybe I'm giving too much importance to a dream. Yeah, that must be it. I think to myself slowly nodding. With a shake of my head, I take in a deep breath and let my shoulders relax, his words lingering in the back of my mind as I carefully place my sketchbook back in the drawer.
My eyes linger on the handle of the drawer for a second, before I turn the light off and head to the living room, grabbing the remote and a blanket to pass the time, since my brain refuses to turn off for the rest of the night.
After much browsing and what seems like an eternity, I end up watching the movie that Rose always talks about.
Your Name.
She always talks about it and recommends it to me every chance she gets, so perhaps it's time I give it a try. At least it should help me keep my mind busy and focused on something else for a while...
