Chapter 33:

Andy's Point of View:

I sighed as my phone buzzed. I picked it up and looked at who'd texted me.

Mike: Vic wants to talk to you

I sighed again as I responded.

Andy: Why? It's nearly eight? Can't it wait?

There was a few seconds delay before Mike answered me.

Mike: He wants to see you

I sighed again and got up, grabbing my jacket and putting my phone in my pocket. I headed downstairs, putting my jacket on in the process. Mom looked over as I headed to the front door.

"Where're you going?" she asked with a frown.

"Apparently Vic wants to see me," I said as I opened the door and headed out.

"It's nearly eight at night though," mom said as she stood in the doorway and watched as I headed off down the sidewalk.

I came to a halt, lighting a cigarette as I looked at her.

"I'm just doing as asked," I said, putting my lighter away.

Mom sighed. "I thought you would've given up smoking by now Andy. You know dad and I don't agree with it."

I shrugged again and continued walking.

"My choice."

***

I knocked on the already open door, Vic looking up and seeing me. He indicated for me to come in, so I did as asked, coming to a halt at the end of the bed.

"Mike said you wann'ed to see me," I said as Vic watched me.

Mike wasn't around, and I began wondering where he was. I'd expected him to be here, but he wasn't anywhere to be seen. Vic looked at me for a few seconds before he looked back at what he was writing.

"Sure do," he said, not looking at me as he spoke. "He said you've been having a few problems lately."

"What'd he tell you...?" I asked hesitantly.

Vic sighed, putting his pen down and looking up at me. He readjusted his snapback nervously before he managed to answer.

"He uh...he said..."

He trailed off, not saying anything more. I watched as he looked at me; thinking. After a bit of thought, he sighed, clearly having made up his mind.

"Alright Andy, I can't say it," he said. "So I wantcha to do something for me."

I shook my head, knowing what he was gonna ask me to do.

"I can't do that Vic."

"Yes you can," Vic said, a slight bit of irritation in his voice as he pushed up the sleeves of his hoodie and held his arms out, wrists face up.

I just looked at him, not able to bring myself to do the same as he was. He gave me a nod, and I just continued looking at him, not moving.

"Andy, please," Vic said, sadness hinted in his tone. "Just so I know for sure."

"Mike wouldn't lie about that," I said quietly. "And it's also not his problem; not yours either."

Vic sighed, rubbing his eyes tiredly before he looked to me again. He just put his arms out again; wrists face up. I sighed, knowing there was no way I was getting around this. I took my jacket off, putting it down on the end of the bed before moving around to the side of the bed.
