Chapter 5:
Matt's Point of View:
"I'll get the door!" mom exclaimed as someone knocked on the front door.
She dashed out of the kitchen and to the door, making me shake my head. She always made sure I didn't have to get up and do anything too strenuous nowadays. Ever since the whole incident between me and Eddie, she'd become so over-protective that I couldn't even walk up the stairs without her making sure I wasn't going to somehow re-injure myself.
"Matt!" mom called, making me sigh. "Someone's here to see you!"
I got up and headed out of the kitchen and to the front door. Mom had moved aside and she closed the door as Juliet looked at me from her position, which was now inside.
"Oh, hey Juliet," I said with a bit of a frown. "Something I can do for you?"
Juliet looked over at mom who gave her a smile. She looked back to me.
"Mom," I said with a sigh. "Do you mind?"
Mom just smiled at me and didn't move, so I gestured for her to go away. She just shook her head and I looked to Juliet, indicating for her to follow me up to my room so we could talk without mom interrupting us.
"Don't you two do anything your father would disapprove of!" mom called after us as we headed up the staircase.
"Seriously mom?" I called back, coming to a halt as Juliet went past me and waited at the top.
Mom was watching me from the kitchen entrance way.
"Yes Matthew; seriously," she said as she crossed her arms. "Just remember that you two aren't the only ones home and I can hear everything you do.'
I just shook my head and continued on my way up the stairs to where Juliet was waiting at the top. I gave her an apologetic smile and she just smiled back as she followed me into my room; mom clearly seemed to forget that Juliet and I weren't together anymore. I closed the door and sat down next to where she was now sitting on my bed.
"So what's up? What can I do for you this time?" I asked, looking at her curiously.
Juliet looked at me for a few seconds before she spoke, keeping her voice quiet.
"Think you could do me a favour?" she asked, pushing a bit of hair off her face.
I'd always found that kinda cute when she did that, but as of rather recently, my heart belonged to someone else.
I frowned. "Like what?"
She sighed and looked down, looking a bit nervous as she asked.
"I don't have the money to go back and see Andy," she said sadly, making me realise what the favour was. "I know he probably hates me 'cause of everything, but I really need to fix this with him Matt. He's still not answering my calls, and after what he's done to himself, I feel like I was the one that made that happen 'cause I hurt him."
"Juliet, you didn't cause his attempt on his life," I said seriously as she looked up sadly and met my gaze. I sighed as she looked at me. "And sweetheart, y'know I don't have a heap of money. I dunno if I can help you out."
For some reason, everyone at school'd always thought I'd had a bit of cash within the family, but that was a complete lie. I never even found out how that rumour had begun either. Even Ashley probably had more money in the family than I did.
"I know Matt, but I don't know who else to go to," she said, and I saw she was really upset due to everything that was going on with her and Andy; it was enough to make me see just how much that boy meant to her. "I just can't reach him and I'm never gonna be able to fix this if I can't go see him."
