"Thank You for flying with Delta airlines, enjoy your stay and we hope to see you again. Please make sure to collect all of your things before getting off the plane." The flight attendant announces.

Unlocking my seatbelt, I put my laptop away and reach up to take out my carry on before joining the line of people making their way of the plane and to the shuttle bus. Making my way into the airport I look for my mom's friend Georgia.

Georgia has been a family friend for years. Her and my mom started of as pen pals and eventually her and dad flew out to meet her. Ever since then they had always visited each other once a month. She took it hard when she found out Mom had died, and she hasn't visited since the funeral. When I found out the conference was in Perth I called her up to ask if she would pick me up from the airport. She was delighted that I was coming through and offered her home to me. Though I declined because my hospital had already paid for a hotel room.

Looking for a few minutes with no luck I decide to grab a coffee and a snack. Finding a Starbucks I get in line behind a older man wearing a business suit. Taking out my phone I connect to the airports Wi-Fi and open up my whatsapp. Hearing next I send a quick text to Di and the girls letting them know that I've landed and I'm fine before putting my phone away and ordering a large black coffee and two chocolate chip cookies. Taking my order I begin blowing my coffee and making my way back to the gate to look for Gia(her nickname).

Spotting her I call her name "Gia!" Hearing her name her heads snaps in my direction . Picking up my pass I make my way to her before giving her a big hug, making sure to not spill my coffee in the process.

"Wow, it's been a bit" She exclaims stepping back to look at me.

"Still look just like the perfect mix between your parent's I see." She compliments with her Australian accent.

Giving her a huge smile "Thanks Gia. It's so good to see you, I've missed you along with the rest of the family."

" I know child. I just can't go back, it's just not the same without her. But that still doesn't mean my door isn't open for you guys to come here! Now, let's get you to your hotel so you can settle in." She suggests, taking my bag and pulling it towards the exit of the airport and to her car.

"I'm so glad you're here." She says before getting in the car.
Making my way to the passengers side I get in and out my coffee in the cup holder.

 "I'm glad I'm here too. "

"How long ya stayin." She asks backing out of the parking lot.

"I'm here for 5 days. The conference is 3 and I'm staying two extra days to sight see and spend sometime with you." I reveal before taking out one of my cookies to eat.

"Oh, that's splendid! I'll plan the day if you just tell me when." She says full of excitement.

"We'll do!" I say picking up my coffee and drinking it.

"So how is everyone?" She inquires.

Putting my coffee cup back in the holder I turn in my seat to look at her. "Everyone is ok, still adjusting. Dad's doing ok, taking it one day at a time. Though as you know it takes time to get over losing your wife some never really get over the grieving process. I know sometimes I find myself clicking her speed dial number just to listen to her voice mail." I sigh , thinking back on the days when my mom was just a phone call away.

"I'm glad everyone's well, I had been meaning to phone but I felt since you were all grieving is wait a bit. Then I just go busy and never got around to it but you guys never left my thoughts." She assures me.
