Straight To The Heart

Chapter 14

"What is it." Viv ask seeming to have finally gotten over her shock.

"I don't know come see." I shrug waving her over.

Sitting down beside me, we both look down at the screen and see it's on an Instagram video more specifically Jaiden's. The caption under it reads 'the Cheeduhs still got it'. Pressing play the camera is focused on a school track, the view then switches to show the bleachers are full of people. A female voice then starts speaking. "Ok guys, Jai is going to be running again, it's been a long time but it's the last time she'll be doing It for show." She narrates. It then zoomed in to show a guy bending down stretching, next it shows Jaiden in all her glory stretching as well.

"Are they racing?" Vic wonders.

"I don't know, let's keep watching." I suggest before hearing someone shout 'Go!' and they take off. Going at the same speed it appears, stride for stride. Jai then takes the lead for a small moment before the guy catches up again.

"Damn! She can run!" Viv exclaims, pointing at the phone. In the background someone starts a chant and the crowd catches on, looking back towards the track Jaiden has passed up the guy again and has started going impossibly faster.

"Holy shit! Do you see how fast she's going!?" I ask jumping up from my stool.

"Yes woman, now sit back down so I can see too." She demands. Sitting back down we see Jaiden has stopped running, which means the race is over before the camera shows a beautiful blonde women.

"She's broken her own record! The first time she ran the mile for competition she did it in three minutes forty two seconds. Today 14 years later she's ran the mile in three minutes thirty six seconds." She practically shouts before the rest of her words are drowned out by more loud chanting. The camera the shows the roaring crowd before the video stops.

Putting my phone back on the counter I turn to Viv her expression mirroring mine. Wide eyes and mouth wide open.

She's the first one to speak. "Didn't you mention she was a Dr?"

"Yeah, and?"

"It seems to me like she chose the wrong career. What's the date of the video?"

"Last week." I say, liking the video and following Jaiden.

"That recent?"

"Yep" I pop the P.

"Now I see why your determined to go after her." She shakes her head in disbelief.

"Mmhmm" I hum picking up my fork and starting to eat, letting out a moan at how good it taste. Hearing Viv do the same I smirk.

"You've gotta to marry her, she can cook." She mumbles through a mouthful.

Chuckling and shaking my head at her I continue to eat.

"I'm glad you ladies are enjoying the food." A lovely southern voice says which makes me grin. Not bothering to turn around I give a thumbs up and continue eating.

"Hope you don't mind if I join you. I usually have a protein shake but this'll have to do." She says before sitting down in front of me.

"Be our guest." I tell her after I've swallowed.

Watching her, she feels her plate up with twice as much food as mine. Already knowing she eats a lot I go back to eating. But Viv not knowing that and being one to speak her mind makes a comment. "Damn, you eat a lot."

About to reprimand her Jaiden beats me to it. "I do eat a lot, but I'm sure you can figure out why if you've watched the video." She smiles before going back to eating.
