"No! Jaylynn!!" I screamed. But it was just a dream. Breathing heavy and covered in a thin sheen of sweat, I look towards my nightstand, it's 3:59am. Knowing my alarm is going to ring any second now I decide to just get up. Another long day ahead of me.

I get into the shower to clear my mind a prepare for a new day. After my shower I quickly comb through my hair and put it into a high ponytail. Reaching for my clothes which consist of my underwear, sportsbra, running tights and grey Nike Renew Rival's. I quickly change so I can make a quick protein shake before my run. Checking the time, it's now 4:40am and time to start my run. Grabbing my iPod and headphones I head out.

Quickly stretching and turning on my workout playlist I start my usual 7 mile run. I've always loved running, to me it was never just a form of exercise but a way to clear my head. I go on my usual route. Around the park twice and then to my local Wal-Mart which is 3 miles away from where I live. After my run I realize its now 6, time to get ready for work. Knowing Diana want be up for another 30 min I quickly make her some breakfast before taking another shower, I change into my usual outfit. Which is heels, slacks, and button down dress shirt. Quickly drinking another protein shake, I leave some spending cash for Di, head out the door and get into my forest green Lamborghini.

I'm A Critical Care Intensivist. I love my work and my patients. I'm known to be one of the youngest doctors at my hospital. Finishing college at 19, then medical school and my residency at 27. I've been a resident doctor for the last 3 years. It was always my dream to become a doctor because of my mother who was a Cardiologist. I wanted to go into the same department.

I always admired my mother and her dedication and enthusiasm for her work and from the age of 12 I wanted to do the same thing. Knowing what it took to achieve that and always being a smart child. I increased my study ethic and was soon in high school a year earlier than my friends. Completing high school at 17 I went into college. Practically shutting myself off from the world I studied and did all the necessary work to insure that I got my degree in the least amount of time It took which was 2 years.

I didn't go to medical school right out of college otherwise I would have completed that and my residency at 26. Because of life changing events I did not go until I was 20. Also at that time during medical school I switched my studies to become a Critical Care Medicine Specialist instead. Feeling I belonged there more than in the cardiologist department.

Arriving at work, l walk across the street to grab a cup of coffee from Starbucks.

Looking at the time I notice it's seven am which means it's time to do my cursory review of the patients in the CCU to make sure there were no major issues overnight or anything that needs to be handled immediately (e.g. actively dying patient). Finishing that up I check my watch and see it's 7:58. Which means I have 2 minutes to get to the meeting room where sit down rounds began.

Mornings rounds/Sit down rounds begin at 8am as the team gathers around a large table. Typically, the post-call resident (the one who worked overnight taking care of patients) then presents their patients. We get all sorts of things in the CCU. Heart attacks, ILD flares (A/N somebody look that up and post a comment explaining what it is to everyone), septic shock, etc. It's really exciting to sit down at that table and have no idea what my fellow resident doctors are going to present. This I also the time. When we hear the case presentations of the new patients, look at labs, EKG, X-Rays, and all other supporting data that helps of take care of our patients.

While heading towards the meeting room I hear my name being called.

"Hey Jaiden!" Marissa one of my colleagues greets.

"Hey Ari how are the babies?" I ask.

Marissa is one of my good friends as well. She has waist length auburn hair, brown eyes, and a round face with dimples like me. She's way shorter than me, at only 5'5. She's also one of the best OB/GYN's here in New York. She recently gave birth to a beautiful set of girl twins 7 months ago. She's just returned back to work last week after recovering from a difficult birth. We became friends in medical school and were quite ecstatic that we got to work in the same hospital. I've always said when If start having kids I want her to be my Doctor.
