Chapter 13: It's coming

Chapter 13

We were done rehearsing our show. Thank God Aljin and Jakie are exquisite and superb in terms of Hip Hop dance and Novelty. We were able to finish our presentation but of course we still have to subject ourselves for refinement and clean up of the dance moves.

“Guys, we should have exerted our much effort when we are going to present, but of course we cannot say if our presentation will be good or not, if we’re not giving our best even here in our practice” Jackie said.

“If you find our steps complicated and harder, you may ask us, and we can teach you the proper way of doing the steps.” Aljin added.

I am still pondering where did they learn to groove like a pro, honestly speaking they are both cool while dancing. I just think they’ve been joining in some dance contest before

“Ahh.. Herald, may I ask you something” I asked.

“What is it Kit? Were you not able to follow, it’s very simple you know, just watch me” Herald said while showing me the steps which I know too.

“ahh, I just want to ask where did Jackie and Aljin learn how to dance, ‘coz you they were both good and as if they were dancing together for so long.”

“Well, Kit, Jackie and Aljun are both member of their dance club when they were in Elementary. Actually, they already won several championships in most of the dance contests in their school, they were our school rival way back in elementary” Herald answered.

Ahh.. no doubt why they were really excellent in that matter. We then continue our rehearsal and when the clock hits five, we stopped and prepared ourselves and our things because rehearsal for this day was over.

“Okay guys, let’s go home for now, tomorrow will be our general practice, so be on time, bye, I have to go” Era instructed.

“Right, I’ll go to Mr. Pavilion, I will get our costumes, who wants to join me?” Shyra asked

“Me… I would join you; I’m so excited to see our costumes” -Jackie

---Tomorrow has come—

“This is it dude, we will just have one practice so that we would not drain our energy for tomorrow” Ms. Donya Myra told us.

We then wore our costumes and started our practice. We danced in unison and with so much swag. We felt the intensity of our show.

For the folk dance, Jackie and Era, Aljin and Era, Herald and Carina and Amir and Eleonor danced their folk dances with gracefulness and sophistication.

After the folk dances, Carlo, Michael and I entered the stage for the filler part; we’ll be the ones to start the dance for the novelty songs while they were changing their costumes.

Our part was over and they entered also the stage and dance novelty and hip hop with us.

And our general practice was done. We were given by Ms. Donya Myra a round of applause. She was so happy for our rehearsal.

“Very good guys, you were all amazing, I wish you good luck tomorrow, okay go home now and have a rest, be here as early as possible.” Our adviser said

Before we go home we have had our short meeting.

“So what’s up? Our teacher told us that we performed better today with such a joy and pleasure to watch, I wish we could maintain the same level of performance tomorrow” –Shyra

“But if we can give our very best, let’s give our best shot, this is it, good luck to us” –Era

“Let’s do it team, we would be the best presenter for our foundation day.” –Jackie

“Oryt guys, let’s go home now, I’ll be visiting my hairstylist, I’ll have my new hair cut today, so I will be the most handsome dancer ever ahaha” Michael intruded.

“I’ll come with you too, we’re best buddies right, with my new hair cut I know, I will be loved and admired by many girls out there ehehe” Carlo exclaimed.

They are all excited by there is something that really bothers me. I don’t know what to feel or I mean I don’t know what’s I’m feeling right now.

“Hey dude, why so sad? Aren’t you excited for tomorrow? You look so constipated” Herald teased me.

“Nothing man, I just don’t know what’s within me, my feelings were unknown”

“Maybe you’re just nervous Kit, don’t feel any pressure were here okay” he added.

Maybe he’s right I am just nervous. I don’t know why but maybe because tomorrow will be my first time to perform in front of many and I am not used to this because I only excel in academics but I never tried dancing, but ever since I have a great interest in dancing but I never tried it before with many.

“Hey Kit, don’t worry we’re in the same team, so if we will stand as a team and as one, you don’t have to feel nervous and you have nothing to worry about.” Aljin told me.

“Okay, thank you… mmmm”

We all left the school and went to our own house.

I am still thinking of what will happen tomorrow. I’m afraid to commit mistakes. What if I was not able to satisfy them? What if I ruin our presentation? I’m really afraid of what’s gonna happen.

I ate my dinner and went to sleep early.

Kringgggggg…. Kringggggggg….Kringgggg…..

“Kit… hey Kit, your alarm clock keeps on waking you up, but you were not able to wake up, hey Kit.. wake up” my mom told me while waking me up.

“ahmmm…why ma? Whats your problem? I want to sleep more… aggghhhhh”

“Don’t you remember today is your Foundation day” –Mama

“What did you just say? Omy… today is our Foundation day, I forgot, I was carried away by my deep sleep, what time is it ma?”

“Its past 12 nn already, as I remember, your presentation will be at 1:00 Pm right?

“arrrggg.. why don’t you try to wake me up. I am not yet done preparing my things and packing my stuffs up.”

I stood up with ninja moves and prepared my costumes and some other stuffs. By this time, I don’t feel any nervous basically because I don’t have time to think of it for now, ‘coz I’m quite busy preparing. Good thing, my mom is here to help me.

I ate my lunch and immediately went to our school. I was so so so appalled by the volume of people in our school, this was not the number of crowd that I am expecting for. We’ll all I can say was.. “I’m dead’.

“Hey Kit, why are you late, we were conditioning ourselves in the backstage, come on let’s go” –Herald

“Herald… there are so many people, I think I wanna.. I wanna go home first.. ehehe”

“Are you insane? In a few minutes we’re about to start our program” he answered

“I am not really expecting for this crowd’

“Actually Kit, this is normal, many people came here to watch the annual celebration of Periwinkle High School. And most of the members of the alumni association gathered here to watch also, that’s what my mom told me.” Herald added.

I’m really really dead. We went hurriedly to the backstage and met our team.

“Oh Kit, It’s a new thing huh.. you’re late.. as if your house is too far from here ahahaah” Jackie said

“ahaha maybe he just prepared too much for this.. you know… he doesn’t to disappoint his fans.. right Kit? Ahahah” Carlo teased me

“Oryt guys… let’s pray and ask the guidance of our Lord.” Ms. Donya Myra lead us in prayer.

“Good luck guys…. Just do your best and trust each other okay?’ she added

This is it… our most awaited Foundation day is about to unfold. My very first stage appearance will begin here. I am hoping for a positive result. I am really praying that God would give me such skills to perform well and exhibit what I really want to do.
