"Carry on my wayward so"— Castiel slammed his hand down on the worn-down alarm clock that sat on his bedside table.
It was the first day of his eleventh-grade year and honestly, he really wasn't enthusiastic about it. He knew he was in for another year just like the rest, getting bullied by your everyday pea brained Jocks and popular kids.
Castiel ran his hand through his jet-black bed head hair as he got out of bed and threw on his favorite AC/DC shirt that was lying on the floor, he smelled the arm pits of it and assessed that it was clean...enough.
Then he looked through the pile of clothes on the floor in his closet and decided on some classic black ripped jeans. Typical for him.
He lazily walked over to the bathroom that connected to his room in an attempt to try and tame his lion mane, but no matter how hard he tried it still stuck up in weird places. He scratched his head tiredly and continued on with his day.
Castiel went downstairs not surprised to see only his mom. He had other brothers and sisters, but they had all moved with his dad, after the divorce.
The only reason he didn't go is because his dad called him " an ugly fag who is just a waste of space." So he was forced to stay with his mom, who isn't much better. She is a drunk who is rarely ever home, but when she is it usually resulted in a beating.
When Castiel got downstairs he opened the fridge in an attempt to eat something and wasn't surprised when he felt a hand colliding with the back of his head.
He winced in pain, but there was nothing he could do about it. "You ugly fag," his mom said before she stumbled back upstairs to her room, probably to go drink some more.
Castiel had come out as gay to his family two years ago and that's when everything bad started to happen.
His parents didn't want him, somehow people in school found out and he got bullied, and everywhere that he walked he felt like there were always eyes on him.
That was also the first day he ever self-harmed.
He decided he had lost his appetite and really wasn't in the mood for his mom to come back downstairs, so he put on his tan trench coat and started walking to school.
He kept his head down the whole way and put headphones in his ear to avoid any type of confrontation. Castiel once was very social and had many friends, before he came out as gay of course. After that his guy friends turned on him and couldn't even stand to be around him, and the few girl-friends he did have didn't want to be labeled as an outcast for talking to him.
When he finally arrived at the beat down brick building, he tried to walk in without any problems but of course, nothing ever goes as planned.
Crowley and his goons were waiting for him at the door.
Crowley picked Castiel up like he weighed nothing and shoved him against the wall " I needed this" was the only thing Crowley said before shoving his fist into Castiel's face.
This was the second time Castiel was getting hit today and frankly he was tired of it.
Then Crowley kicked him in his stomach. Hard. The kick made Castiel fall to the ground, but Crowley didn't stop. He continued kicking him making blood spill from his nose and mouth.
Then the first bell rung so Crowley left and hurried to class leaving Castiel on the ground bleeding. He tried to wipe the blood off with the sleeve of his trench coat, but it just kept coming. Crowley must've gotten him good this time.
Castiel ran to his first-period class, with now only his nose bleeding. When he got there, he sat at the back of the class next to two empty seats, so no one could bother him. Finally, he could let his guard down.
Castiel grabbed some tissues and held them to his nose and finally, the blood stopped.
He pulled his notebook out of his black book bag and started copying the notes that were on the board.
Suddenly a boy with the most striking green eyes and sandy brown hair ran into the classroom just after the late bell rang.
"Sorry I'm late," Dean said to the professor, Professor Hendrickson just nodded pointily and responded, "don't let it happen again."
"Class this is Dean Winchester, he's our new student." Mr. Hendrickson said.
Dean walked to the back of the class and sat in one of the empty seats next to Castiel, as they were the only sears free in the class.
"Hi, I'm dean," he introduced himself with an intrigued look on his face, while putting his hand out for me to shake.
Why was he talking to me, no one ever talked to me.
"I'm Castiel" I responded in barley a whisper while I shook his hand, so unused to the feeling of having to talk.
"That's a different name" Dean said but before Castiel could respond Dean said "I like it."
This simple phrase made Castiel's insides lighten up, no one had ever complimented his name.
"Who did that to you," Dean asked his forest green eyes looking at the bruises that Crowley had left on Castiel face earlier.
Why did he care, no one ever cared.
"It was just a bully."
Just as Castiel said that a crumpled-up piece of paper hit him on the side of his head. He opened it up and it read "Look the fag already has a new boyfriend."
Castiel just ignored it as he was used to it by now, but apparently Dean noticed his expression change because he took the paper out hand and read it.
Dean's eyes turned practically red with anger as he looked around to see who threw it. His eyes fell on Crowley who was looking at Castiel with a teasing look and laughing.
Castiel noticed Dean about to get up and confront Crowley, so he pulled his arm and said: "don't you will only make things worse."
"Ok," Dean responded, "but if he hurts you again then I'm going to tear him to pieces."
That just made Castiel smile because a guy he had only known for ten minutes was already willing to fight Crowley for him. One of the biggest guys in the school, not to say that Dean didn't also have an athletic build.
"Hey, if you're free why don't you come by my house after school," Dean asked.
Wait did he just asked me to come to his house, no one had ever done that before. Well, I mean they did before you know...
"Yes," Castiel said happily, trying to sound as normal as possible even though his heart was basically pounding out his chest.
Dean didn't seem to notice Castiel's change in mood, and he just took his arm and wrote his number on Castiel's arm, then went back to paying attention to the teacher.
