The rest of the day went by painfully slow. Every second that ticked on seemed like an hour.

Castiel had basically all of his classes with Dean. In every class, he would look up from his work only to notice Dean's eyes lingering on him. He tried his best to ignore it.

I must just be imagining right, Castiel thought.

The last period bell rang and he excitedly got out of his seat and started walking towards the door to leave, when Crowley and Azazel walked up to him.

Just great.

"One time isn't enough for one day," Castiel said as Crowley gripped his shirt, almost ripping it.

"Did I give you permission to speak fag?" Crowley said now slamming Castiel into a locker.

A crowd was starting to form around them and Castiel just figured hed shut up and take the beating, not wanting it to be any worse then it had to be.

Crowley slammed his fist into Castiel's chin, then into his stomach and kept doing it.

Over,

and over,

and over again,

It had never gone this far before.

Suddenly, Castiel's vision went black, but only for a second.

He started to drift in and out of consciousness when finally he passed out, but just before he did he swore he heard a voice saying get away from him, but before he could figure out who it was he was out.

When Castiel came too he was in a car, He didn't know who's car it was so he sat up, his head was numb with pain.

Castiel looked over and saw Dean Winchester, the jock that he had just met today.

"De-Dean" Castiel muttered stuttering due to the throbbing pain that was piercing through his head.

As Dean heard his name he looked through the rearview mirror at Castiel with his green eyes.

No, his eyes were more than plain old green.

They were the green that brings the earth back to life after an unforgiving cold.

The green that revived grass from the harsh condition of winter.

The green that even in darkest of times can be the light that shows you the way home.

The green that just may be Castiel's salvation.

"Cas you're awake," he said, his face filled with wordiness. Castiel twinged as he heard him call him Cas, no one ever called him Cas, but he likes the way it sounded...Cas

"Are you alright?" Dean said turning his eyes back to the road.

The sound of him speaking brought Cas out of his daze.

Cas nodded his head still trying to take in what was happening. After about three minutes of silence, they arrived at a small row home.

Dean parked the car, then opened his side door.

Dean came around to Cas's side opening the door then he helped Cas walk into the house with his arm around his waist and Castiel's around Dean's neck.

Castiel couldn't help but notice how he melted into Dean 's touch, no matter how hard he tried not to.

He was just going to hurt me as everyone else did.

With that thought, Castiel's heart filled with pain and he didn't want to be alive any more. He didnt think he could handle another person getting close and then leaving when they found out he was bi-sexual.

As we walked into the house, i couldn't help but notice that no one appeared to be home.

Dean helped Cas up the stairs and laid him down on his bed.

"Where are we," Cas asked already knowing the answer, but he just wanted to break the akward silence.

"We're at my house" Dean responded nonchalantly, he then went into the bathroom next door leaving Castiel to inspect his room.

He was surprised when he saw AC/DC and Metallica posters on his wall. Castiel noticed that Dean didn't have very much decoration besides the posters, a bed, a desk, and a dresser with a small tv on it.

Before Cas could continue looking around Dean came in with some medical supplies.

He tended to his bloody nose and his busted lip with ease as if he'd done this before.

"Can I lift up your shirt?" he asked me, his face starting to turn a deep shade of red almost crimson.

Cas just nodded his head as Dean slowly lifted up his shirt. If he wasn't strait Cas would say he was checking him out.

No, he's straight, he would never want to be with a loser like me anyway. Cas reminded himself.

He cleaned Castiel's wounds, wrapped a bandage around his rib cage, and finally pulled Cas's t shirt back down.

"What happened after I passed out," Cas asked Dean avoiding eye contact because he was feeling embarrassed.

"Well I told Crowley to back away from you and when he didn't, I punched him in his face, then he walked away angry," Dean said while getting up and sitting on the corner of the bed.

"Why would you do something like that, for someone like me," Castiel asks not meaning to.

"What do you mean," Dean asked with a concerned look spreading across his face.

"Never mind, just forget it, I should go," Cas said getting up from the bed.

Immediately he hunched over from the pain in his ribs but then straightened back up and started walking towards the door.

That is until he felt a strong hand grab his arm. "Cas, please stay," Dean said in a pleading tone.

"No you'll just hurt me as everyone else does, someone probably dared you to be my friend" Castiel could feel tears start to build in his eyes.

Dean spun Cas round and said, " No one dared me, I truly want to be your friend."

At this point Cas couldn't hold the tears back, they fell out of his eyes and with each tear that fell, a little bit of relief washed over him.

Did I actually just make a friend for the first time, Cas thought.

Out of nowhere Cas felt hands on his back and noticed that Dean was hugging him, at first he stiffened up but then eventually melted into Deans touch.

"Thank you," Cas said when he had calmed down enough to speak.

"Your welcome Cas anytime," Dean said pulling away from the hug. Castiel was actually kind of sad when Dean 's warm body left his, leaving him cold.

Castiel looked out the window noticing that It was dark. " I should probably get going," he said while rubbing the back of his neck.

"Yeah ok," Dean responded, "I'll give you a ride." The ride was quiet, not the uncomfortable kind but the peaceful kind.

When they arrived at Cas's house he got out and before he closed the car door Dean said: "promise you'll call if you need anything."

"I promise" Cas responded and he really meant it. Cas closed the Impala door and walked into his house.

When he turned around Dean's black Chevy Impala was no longer there.
