Telling people that you had a twin was never a dull moment, For some reason that you failed to understand, the entire world was so captivated by twins. "Is twin telepathy real?" "Who was born first?" "Wow, so how much alike are you?" Or the most popular one, which happened almost every time you told a guy that you had a twin was "that's hot." People being shocked and way too interested was just a part of life that you had come to accept. Sure it was tiring and incredibly annoying, but its not like there was anything you could do about it.
You loved having a twin, well, for the most part at least. The two of you got into petty arguments every now and then, but you sister, Elena, was pretty much your best friend. Right now though, you absolutely hated her.
Why? Well, after all the late nights gossiping about crushes and dating, during which you had no problem telling her about how Camila Cabello AKA 'the prettiest girl in school' was your soulmate, Elena decided that you were right about how pretty Camila was and decided that she was going to make a novel
You were watching it all happen right now. The both of you had rushed into school on the morning, actually eager to be there for once. You and your twin were both intent on talking to Camila first and getting her attention. She was standing by her locked talking with one of her friends but you figured she wouldn't mind being interrupted if it was by her soulmate, right?
Just as you were about to reach her, you heard the obnoxious voice of a teacher calling out your name. You had no choice but to stop and go see what he wanted, glancing over at Elena who was now talking to Camila with a victorious smirk on her face.
"Good morning Y/N. I just wanted to discuss your last test score with you if you had a moment to spare," he said with an oblivious look on his face, not knowing that he was currently playing a part in ruining any chance you thought you might've had of getting with your dream girl.
You almost admitted defeat as you watched Elena talk to Camila while your teacher kept blabbering n about the test that you didn't really care about. If you let her go so easily you knew you would regret it forever. What if Camila really was your soulmate and this was your only chance of getting with her? Yeah, not gonna happen because of some stupid teacher.
"Actually, I have something to do right now," was all you offered before scurrying off to where Elena thankfully seemed to be boring Camila with whatever she was talking about. You not so gently pushed her out of the way with your hip so you could take her place. And maybe it was just wishful thinking or a trick of the light, but you definitely just saw a glint of happiness in Camila's eyes as you replaced your sister.
"Y/N, what's up? I was looking for you but instead your sister found me. Not quite the same," she chuckled. Hearing her say that she would rather see you than your twin sister made you shoot a way too happy grin at her, which in turn made her scoff and walk away. 'Yeah, that's right. Go find another girl,' you smugly thought to yourself.
"Really? I was looking for you too," you admitted now that you were face-to-face with the definition of beauty. Camila just smiled at your reply, reaching out to grab your hand.
"I think Elena was trying to flirt with me," she laughed, "but it's weird. You look exactly the same but you're so different, at least to me." Oh my God, was this real life? Your ideal image of perfection basically saying that she preferred you to your sister was everything that you ever wanted in life.
Urging Camila to hurry up with whatever she was planning on saying, you squeezed her hand gently and hoped that she found it comforting. "If I take any longer to say it I'm gonna chicken out. So Y/N, you wanna like go on a date with me tonight? I'll pick you up and everything," she rambled cutely. You couldn't stop yourself from letting out an overly excited squeal and pulling Camila into a tight but quick hug. All thoughts of how close your sister might've come to stealing Camila away from you had now been replaced by you celebrating what was hopefully the start of your future with Camila.
Okay, maybe that was a bit dramatic. But the sparks you felt when Camila chuckled and just pulled you closer to her made you realize that there was nothing wrong with planning for an uncertain future, especially if the person you wanted to be in it was having the exact same thoughts.
