Chloe sat on the comfortable sofa reading through the statement Britta had given her. It was brief and to the point, basically stating that Seb & Hannah had separated due to irreconcilable circumstances and that for the sake of their two daughters they requested continued privacy from the media. "What I don't quite understand is that for someone as private as Seb, why he feels he has to do this statement." She said thoughtfully.
"It's to protect himself and also Hannah and the girls really." Britta started to explain, "If either of them start seeing other people they don't want affair rumours plastered all over the press that the girls might read later on."
"So what exactly happened between them? There's always been so much love for them as a couple."
"That's not for me to say really, you would..." Britta stopped as Seb entered the lounge. Chloe found herself eyeing him, in a tight white t-shirt and a pair of tracksuit bottoms he sat himself down opposite them. His hair still a bit wet from his shower. He smelled gorgeous.
"You must have been talking about me Britta, going quiet as soon as I walk in." He said winking at her, "All good I hope."
"Of course Seb." Britta smiled and noticed Chloe put the statement down on the table, "I was just going through the statement with Chloe since it'll be her first task for you."
"Oh yeah, sorry that the first thing you do for me won't be the nicest job to do." He felt a little awkward.
"That's ok, statements are just part of my job." Chloe wasn't sure what else to say.
"Regarding statements and any kind announcement, you must email them to Ferrari's media office first and they put them out. One major rule is that you never go to the press yourself." Britta explained hoping that would be the end of the subject of Seb's separation for now, "Seb, why don't you take Chloe for something to eat this evening, you could get to know each other a bit better." She suggested, hoping to lighten the mood.
"Great idea, you up for that Chloe?" Seb looked at her.
"Yeah, sounds good to me." She started to feel more relaxed.
"You'll get to experience his awful driving!" Britta joked.
"My awful driving has got me four fucking world championships, actually!" Seb put his hand on his chest as though he was hurt. Chloe watched the two of them, they sure had a close friendship and she hoped she could get even halfway as close to Seb as Britta was.
Just then Seb's two daughters came running in, straight over to their dad. Chloe watched as they giggled while he hugged and then tickled them. "I guess I should introduce you to these two Chloe. This is Mia." He said pointing to the older girl, "And this is Leonie." He picked up the younger one and she sat on his lap, "Girls, say hello to Chloe.""Hallo!" They both sung before getting up and running back out of the room.
"They're beautiful Seb, you must be so proud." Chloe looked at the two girls as they ran out, she felt incredibly honoured to have met them as she knew he was fiercely protective of his young family.
"I am, they're the reason I keep driving. I want to provide the best for them." His eyes lit up as he spoke about them, "I only wish I was here more for them, so I savour every moment with them over the winter break." He looked at her for a moment, "Your CV didn't tell me much about you personally, tell me something about yourself we don't know."
"Oh, I'm not still being interviewed am i?" Chloe blushed.
"Not at all, I'm just curious."
"Ok, well I'm a trained dancer." She admitted.
"Really? Where did you find time for that?" Said Britta looking surprised.
"After I stopped working for Michael in 2014." She looked down at her hands for a moment, "Sabine let me go a few months after his accident, I suddenly found a lot of time on my hands so I learnt to dance."
"Not lap dancing is it?!" Seb joked.
"Seb! Behave!" Britta scolded him.
"No, it's mainly Latin based dance. Samba, Cha Cha, Argentine Tango, that sort of thing." She looked at Seb's surprised face.
"Did you compete?" He asked.
"No, it was fun way to meet people. Got a few dates out of it." She grinned. Just then Seb's mobile rang.
"Excuse me while I get this, it's my parents." He stood up and left the room.
"He likes you, I can tell." Britta said smiling.
"I do hope so."
"You've met his kids already, even though they came running in here he introduced you. That speaks volumes. He seems at ease with you already. Dinner out with him will be a good chance to connect."
"Oh." Chloe blushed.
"Oh, not like that!" Britta realised what she'd said, "I meant on a friendship level. It's easier to work together if you're friends. You have to gain each other's trust. As for what happened with him and Hannah, you need to find that out from him. But wait for him to tell you, he won't appreciate you asking him. But it'll make the statement seem more clear to you and why he's releasing it."
"When's your last day working for him?"
"New Years Eve, we're holding a bit of a party here. It'll be a New Years and farewell party in one, my husband will be here and a few of our's and Seb's friends. You must come!" Britta sounded excited, "Seb's friends are great!"
"Well I've got nothing planned, I was going to sleep the New Year in."
"Then come and join us, I will arrange a flight for you for the morning so all you have to do is turn up and get glammed up."
"You're on Britta!" Chloe grinned, an excuse to spend more time with Seb was always going to be welcome. She had a feeling she was going to love working for him.
