I drop to my knees at Chloe's side and lift her limp body to cradle her against me, the room has gone deathly quiet and all I can hear is her gasping breaths. I place my hand on her abdomen, on our baby, and her blood pools around my fingers. I look back up at her beautiful face, the colour has drained from her skin, she looks nearly as white as the snow outside and I press my lips to her forehead and keep them there.
"Please don't leave me." I whisper quietly as I hold her tighter. "I promise everything will be ok." Looking up my eyes settle on the person responsible for pulling the trigger, they're white with shock and trembling, leaning against the wall but gradually sliding down it. Stephen just stands there, open mouthed.
"I've called an ambulance." He mutters. "And police."
"Help is coming liebe, you'll be ok, everything will ok." I'm trying hard not to shake as I stroke her face over and over, I don't want to move her in case I do any damage and make her injuries worse. "Please stay strong for me and our baby." The last word catches in my throat and hot tears blur her face. Panic rises unwelcome and consuming in my chest as I suddenly realise that I can't hear her breathing. "No! No please! You can't leave me!"
"No!" Sebastian woke himself up with his cry and sat bolt upright in bed, breathing heavily and covered in sweat, his hand shot out to feel for Chloe and his head snapped to the right when he realised that she wasn't there. "Shit!" He cursed as he leapt out of bed and ran from the bedroom only to find the hotel room was empty apart from himself and he tried to calm himself down, telling himself that it was just a bad dream and that she was ok but he couldn't stop the feeling of crushing sadness that weighed on his chest because she wasn't here and she was the only thing would soothe him right now. Spotting a note on the table, he sat down on the sofa and picked it up to read it; she'd got up early as she couldn't sleep and had gone to the track already. She'd see him when he got there. That was it; there was no 'I love you' at the end, not even one kiss. She hadn't said those words since Monday night, even though she'd been drunk when she'd said it it had still sounded like the sweetest prayer to him and he'd replayed those words over and over in his mind ever since. Although the first thing she'd done the next morning was to ask him if they'd had sex, neither of them had really spoken about that night since and despite her trying hard not to make things feel awkward between them he'd noticed that she had kept a careful physical distance from him at all times. That was up until last night when they'd arrived at the Hotel de la Source, here in Belgium, to find that her request for the beds to be separated in to two singles hadn't been fulfilled and they'd had to sleep in the same bed last night. That was obviously the reason why she'd said in her note that she couldn't sleep and had gone to the track early, it was because she found being in the same bed as him while sober, uncomfortable. Seb put the note down and rubbed his face with his hands, still trying to calm himself down and not disappear into the vat of misery that was threatening to take him under. He'd be fine, he told himself, he'd get to the track as soon as he could, he'd see her and then he'd be fine.

Chloe sat at the Ferrari pit wall gantry staring blankly up the pit lane with papers containing Seb's track data in her hands, ready for his track walk. It had been easy to sleep next to him when she'd been drunk, she hadn't known where she was until she'd woken up and had to run into his bathroom to vomit, but sleeping next to him last night had been near impossible.
"Chloe." Seb had offered to get the beds altered but she'd insisted that as they were both adults it would be ok, but having her beautiful, sexy Sebastian next to her in bed last night had been torture. One minute she'd been aching to touch him and her body had literally been on fire it was burning for him that much, and then the next minute her brain would remind her that he was no longer her's and that he'd fucked another woman just over three weeks ago. Then she'd lay there in silent tears because despite her best efforts to try and forget it, she couldn't and it still hurt. "Chloe?" Daniel appeared in front of her, filling her vision with his tanned face and bright smile.
