We were in the ambulance for about 10 minutes, when Niall was unloaded I was still holding onto his hand, the boys running out of their car that followed the ambulance to the hospital.

Niall was hastily pushed through the doors, down five different corridors with doctors continuously multiplying and rushing getting updates from the many nurses helping.

I was so confused where we were going that when we suddenly arrived at a room with a sign overhead saying ‘Preparation. Restricted. Staff Only’ I wouldn’t let go of Niall’s hand.

When the nurses told me to let go I loosened my grip and looked at Niall, he stared at me with terror in his eyes.

“I promise, it will all be okay. I love you forever and always” I told him reassuringly.

He stared at me and whispered "Forever and Always".

It was our song, Forever and Always by Parachute. The lyrics explained everything.

'I want you forever, forever and always,

through the good and the bad and the ugly,

we'll grow old together, but always remember,

whether happy or sad or whatever,

We'll still love each other forever and always.'

And then the end is the part that always gets to me

'I love you forever, forever and always,

please just remember, even if I'm not there,

I'll always love you, forever and always.'

I let go of his hand and just stood in the corridor until the boys caught up with me. They just stood there staring at the preparation area with me. None of us were sure how to act, our boyfriend, brother, best friend and confidant was just rushed into surgery. If he didn’t make it none of us would be able to live our life normally again.

After a while I turned around to Harry and gave him a hug, next I gave one to Zayn, then to Liam, and finally to Louis.

“It will be okay” I promised them all.

“Let’s find somewhere to wait” I told them trying to move them away from where we were.

By the time we left that corridor, which was a while considering none of us could even move properly, we reached a toilet. I realised I had Niall’s blood on me, I looked around and noticed all the boys managed to get it on them as well, probably trying to help Niall in the dressing room.

“Um, how about we wash up and change clothes, okay” I suggested to them. They just nodded absently.

“Guys, I know it’s hard, it’s hard for me too, but Niall’s going to be fine and we need to be there for him when he wakes up, so we need to pull ourselves together and thank god that the girl didn’t shoot him anywhere else” I told them in the nicest tone I could produce trying to push the desperation out of my voice.

They all looked up with tears in their eyes and all at once, one by one, they started hugging me ending up in a clump of bodies crying in front of what seemed to be the only toilet in the next few corridors by the amount of annoyed glances we received from people that came and then walk off looking for another.
