She woke up with a start
Beads of sweat on her burning forehead
And her deep yet quick, shallow breaths
Breaking the still silence of her dark roomHer attempts to once again sleep are useless
As darkness and paranoia
Are constricting her ability to close her eyes
And her thoughts not paving way for sleepSo here she is
Under the shower
With the drops of the heat stealer Unsuccessfully washing away
The traces of her indelible nightmareHer night clothes are now a part of her skin
Just like the fiendish voices in her mind
And not even the profuse water
Can drown them deadLike the moon in the dawn of this time
Her moods are interchangeableShe is the only one
Who can hear her chuckles of delight
While reminiscing over the crazily good old daysOr feel the sobs wracking her body
As realisation of the callous, malignant reality dawns
On her ephemerally euphoric mindShe barely recovers
Painfully walking to bed shivering, alone and in despair
Sleep is no longer an option
Because insomnia has viciously taken its tollNow there she lays, with genuine fear
Knowing that as long as the sun sets
And the moon meets the dark sky
This cycle will continue to repeatAnd as always
