She's afraid to close her eyes
Afraid that her immediate loss of sight
Will unleash in her pitch black mind
The vile creatures of the night.
He's afraid to stop listening
Afraid that when he stops heeding to others voices
The faint whispers in his head
Will become louder and more tormenting.
They are afraid to stay quiet.
Hoping that when they keep talking,
They could silence those thoughts
Bursting at the seams of their sanity.
They're afraid to go home
Afraid that they will have to face reality
And feel the familiar pain
As their fragile minds go down memory lane.
