Part two: Grandma's House

I woke up to the sound of my alarm and immediately turned it off. I grab my visor from the nightstand next to me putting it on. As I activate it notifications for texts from my family start coming in.

Dante: What's for breakfast
Mom: Fend for yourself
Mom: Had to leave for work early
Dad: Same here Kiddos
Ellie: Do we have any food?
Mom: Idk check the fridge
Dad: Grandma should have breakfast if you guys just go over there

I turn off my visor moaning. I really don't want my siblings coming to Grandma's house today. Grandma promised me a story and told me I could go through her basement again today. Dante, Ellie, and Damion are just going to ruin that for me. Especially Damion, Dante and Ellie always left me to watch him because they always had something to do. I just want to spend the day with Grandma. Is that such a hard thing to ask?
I climb out of my bed and start doing the routine of stretches my mom had been doing with me since I was five. It occurred to me that I didn't have to do them but it relives tension so I keep with the routine. Slugging into the bathroom I activate my dental hygiene bot. I prefer not to use it, but I'm feeling especially lazy this morning. After my teeth are clean the bot hands over my medication. I swallow the pills then head into my closet to pick out an outfit.
The most recent style was a long sleeve top that flows towards the bottom, and skinny jeans were always in style. My dress bot chooses a white top, a pair of blue jeans, and gray ankle boots to go with it. As the bot dresses me I checkup on my social media to see what all my friends are up to.
I haven't met any of these friends in person because they live all the way across White World but we are actually planning a meet up at a convention happening this weekend. I am so excited to finally get to see them in person. I have two main friends Cal, short for Callista and Azura . We are all so excited to meet up especially since the convention we're going to is an artist convention, one of the only places where you'll see more colors than blue, white, and gray; hear amazing music, and get to meet the coolest people. At least we hope.
The bot finishes tying up my laces so I head out of the closet and down the stairs. Cal comes up in my visor as soon as I hit the bottom of the steps.

"Omg Al you won't believe what I just heard!"
"Spit it out Cal!"
"That guy Indigo we've been following for the past few months is going to be at the convention, AND HE WANTS TO MEET US! He loves your art and my music. He wants to do a collab with us!"

Cal screams into the mic. I cringe a little but I understand her excitement. She has had a crush on this Indigo Green guy for a while and for me, I just really enjoy his art. He does a combination of drawing, music, and writing. His work is Absolutely spectacular.

"And you said yes didn't you?"
"Of course I did, what kind of monster do you think I am? Anyways I gotta go, school starts soon!"

She hung up. I walk into the kitchen and see Ellie sitting at the table scrolling through VixPix, the new instagram. She barely notices me and even if she does, we don't really talk. That's one reason Grandma hates visors, they take you away from everything. Sitting down I notice no one has grabbed Damion. Usually our Sally bot does it, but it seems mom has been making adjustments again which means I have to get him and take care of him myself.
Slowly I stand up heading to Damion's nursery. I open the door and spot three of my mom's newest designs for her Sparky series: The white one is Juniper, The blue is Venus, and the gray is Pluto. Dante helped me name them. I stepped over Pluto to get the the small crib. I push a button and it releases the bullet proof glass covering, a safety precaution my mother took when designing Damion's crib. I pick Damion up cradling him in my arms. As much trouble as this little guy causes me we are pretty close, mainly because the rest of my family is simply too busy for him. I take the sleeping bundle down stairs setting him in the play pen so he can play around with the baby bots. I turn on a button to activate them. In no time one of the bots is up and helping Damion get on his feet so it can start teaching him to walk. Apparently parents used to do teaching things like this for their kids themselves but with the bots, parents could now focus on work while their children were being cared for and taught.
I head over to the kitchen and get out the ingredients to make a smoothie. I head to the fridge, select what I want to make, and the fridge gives me the ingredients. I set the ingredients on the kitchen island and activate another button that summons our Chef bot. It senses the ingredients and starts making the smoothie. As it does that I go and watch my little brother play with the baby bot. I hear a ding and go grab my smoothie putting some of it in a smaller cup for Damion. I grab my smoothie and Damion's then set his smoothie in the pen where our second baby bot grabs it to feed Damion.
The morning moves along fine and once everyone is ready we head to Grandma's. Grandma greets us all with a big hug and sits us down for breakfast. I place Damion in the little play pen she has for him and then go sit down in my usual seat. Ellie sits to the left of the head of the table, Dante is next to her, Im to the right of the head, and Grandma sits at the head. Ellie goes to turn on her visor but quickly deactivates it as Grandma gives her a dirty look. "Sorry force of habit," she tries to make an excuse.
Grandma has made he famous French toast, a recipe passed down from her dad that she has passed onto me.

Grandma starts the conversation, "So how are you kids on this fine morning
Dante grunts, not really wanting to talk
Ellie looks up, "Well elections are coming up, and I get to vote this year." Her voice is kind of dull
Grandma smiles, "How exciting! What about you little cub?" She often called me this because of how curious I was about the world.
I finished the bite I was chewing, "Well I finished most of my homework last night, I was hoping I could do my last assignment and maybe go down to the basement today?"
Grandma's eyes twinkled, they always did when she was excited, "Of course."

Grandma and I carry on in conversation, Dante and Ellie chime in here and there but they aren't much for conversation. Ellie is more interested in speeches and Dante is more of a screen guy. Grandma and I love having conversations face to face its real and personal. Hiding behind a screen is so fake and it makes it too easy. Often times I don't even wear my visor because I love having freedom away from it. My mom hates when I don't wear my visor because then she can't get ahold of me.
After breakfast Grandma gets up and heads to the living room to watch Damion while Dante, Ellie, and I start on our homework. I only have one assignment to complete which is a journal essay. I finished all my other work last night because of how easy it was but writing is something I hate to do so I always leave it for last. The writing assignment today is supposed to be about how we want to make the world a better place:

I want to make the world a better place by introducing color. A long time ago there used to be more than three colors. If we introduce color to the world maybe it would bring a little more happiness, creativity, and collaboration. Inventions could be full of color, full of life. With a little bit of color in White World it could change the perspective of so many people.

I hope thats good enough, but I know my teacher will be furious reading this. I hate going in-depth on topic, I do better expressing myself through my art. A lot of my art is recreations of the photos my grandma shows me. I draw the scenery first and instead of drawing her friends I draw myself with my friends. They almost look real like I was there and experienced it, but I didn't and I don't believe I ever will. No one has ever left White World unless they were going to some other city.
I shut off my visor and set it on the table. "Its time for a little adventure" I tell myself, Dante and Ellie give me weird looks but I ignore them. I head to the kitchen grabbing the keys for the basement and approach the door. I haven't been down here in forever and I am just so excited. I open the door and walk down the stairs. Boxes of treasure look me in the face. Which one will hold my treasure today?
