   Martin's POV

"Sarah!!" I shrieked as I saw Flare be hit by one of the chunks of ice. I tried to run, but Adam and Simon held me back.

"No! Let me get to her!" I screamed, struggling to get loose.

"Drop it Martin! Wait until it dies down! Or else you'll be crushed," yelled Adam, pulling me back. I stopped and fell to my knees.

   "I can't leave her..." I muttered.

"We'll get her once it's over," said Simon.

"Then what if she's still alive and we just leave her. Then she will die... I can't have that," I said.

"Don't worry, she chucked a ball of ice away from Baki using one of her wings. She's strong, I'm sure she's still alive," Adam said.

   I sighed and gave in.

Time skip because I am really lazy and tired right now

The hail stopped, and it started raining again. I ran outside and saw Flare underneath one of the biggest chunks of ice I've ever seen. It was like the size of a car! I tried to push it off, but it was too heavy. I gave up and called for the others.

We heaved the boulder of ice off of Flare and dragged her out from underneath. Flare was barely breathing, and her breaths were shallow and shaky. I held her in my lap and stroked her hair.

"She's still alive, but barely," I said, half sad and half relieved. Adam picked her up.

"The house is destroyed except for the bathroom," said Seto, holding Brice, who was shivering in fear from almost dying. As if by instinct, Flare's tail curled around my ankle. She shifted and groaned. I traced one of her scars that ran down her jawline, calming her.

"Shh, it's okay now, you're safe," I whispered, pulling her unconscious body close to me in a hug.

"I can't believe we almost died..." muttered Brice shakily.

"Death by ice!" Seto said, looking at the other destroyed houses around us. Many people were probably killed or badly injured. A woman and a 23 looking year old man ran up to us.

"Oh my god! Is she okay!" the woman asked.

"I don't know," I answered truthfully. Flare groaned and opened her eyes.

"M.. Martin?" she muttered. I smiled and wrapped her in a tight hug. She weakly hugged back.

"Flare! I'm so glad you're okay! When I saw that ice hit you.. I.. I.." I couldn't finish. Tears of joy ran down my face.

"Shh, it's fine... I'm okay, see?" she said, rubbing my back softly. The woman took Flare from my arms and I let out a cry of surprise.

"Flare! How dare you run off like that! I was worried sick!" the woman said. Flare's face flashed in anger.

"No you weren't, you're just posing so you can take me back as your slave," Flare growled. This was obviously Flare's mother. Flare's mom raised her hand to slap Flare, but I grabbed her wrist.

"She just got hit by a giant ice ball, and you would hit her?!" I shouted at the mother. Flare's mom gave me a surprised look, then it turned to rage. She lifted her other hand and swung. I wasn't fast enough and I got a blow to the jaw. I fell to the ground on my stomach, laying a hand on my jawbone, which throbbed in pain.

"Martin! AH!" I heard Flare scream as she was most likely slapped. I got up in time to turn and see Simon shove the woman to the ground.

   Simon's POV

I tackled the woman and pinned her to the ground.

"She just saved my best friends lives, and you abuse her right before me?" I growled at the woman's face, "She almost got herself killed for us!"

"She's useless. She can't even do chores right!" the woman shouted.

"She saved an entire group and almost sacrificed her own life to do so! You call that useless!!?" I shrieked, losing control. I punched the woman in the face as a warning.

"I could have you arrested!" she yelled.

"I could have you arrested for abuse and battery, how's that?" I growled. She froze.

"H.. How did you know?" she asked.

"She has scars across her body because of you. You freaking whipped her!" I shouted at the woman. It felt good to let my rage free for once.

Her face switched back to the rage I saw before. She shoved me off and I hit the ground. I regained my balance and lunged. What happened next caught me by surprise. She pulled a small knife put of her pocket and jabbed me in the chest with it as I lunged at her. I gasped.

"Simon!!!" I heard Martin scream. The woman smiled and twisted the knife, causing pain to flow through my entire body. I crippled to the ground, blood rushing out quickly, staining my shirt. The woman kicked me onto my back and pulled the knife out, making me scream in pain.

"Simon no!!" Martin screamed, rushing over to me. He held my head in his hands.

"Simon! You stay with me! Don't you leave!" Martin shouted.

   "I don't think I have a choice," I muttered.

"No Simon! Do they think like that! You'll make it!" shouted Martin, burying his face in my shoulder. The woman raised the knife.

"M.. Martin, Martin!" I screamed, shoving him out of the way. The woman brought the knife down, but instead of hitting Martin, it hit me square in the chest. It was a death blow. I got one last look at Martin.

"I'm sorry.." I muttered, then everything went dark.
