Twas impossible to keep the veil on forever
******************
Evening came accompanied by light showers.Raindrops made their way to Reana's face. She awoke and opened her silvery eyes only to find a set of deep violet eyes staring at her.She hated it when anyone saw her looking so vulnerable but there a person was,his dark brown wet strands of hair on her face.He was so close to her that she held her breath. Her graceful arms lay stretched onto the huge branches. She lay at that position for a moment or two then came back to her senses just in the nick of timeReana tried to push the man but her attempts went down the drain. With almost no effort at all he entrapped her on the tree trunk with a smug look on his face.He literally glared at her as if by so doing he would set her ablaze. He ached to warm her lips with his.How he longed to uuum....cocoon her in his embrace but one look at her big silvery eyes caused the alien feelings to crawl back to where they had been stashed.
"We meet again,kitten."Mogan said bluntly.
This hit Reana so hard that her body became tense instantly. It was the same man she had stabbed. She looked at his left side to confirm what she already knew
(noticing what had caught her attention )"You thought one knife to my side would kill me?Dead wrong."
By this time Reana was thinking of how she would escape him.She had to get out of there really fast. From time immemorial she had always felt uneasy when anyone came so close to her.She always felt so suffocated but why?"Hey kitty,am talking to you. "
"And I heard you."Reana said angrily
"I guess I will be having the last laugh kitten."
"Not when my heart is still beating."She said as she took advantage of Mogan's smugness and hit him then ran for her "dear" lifeBy the time he came down from the tree Reana was ought of sight.Well would the saying out of sight out of mind work on him?No distance is ever too far, they say
"Why do I even care of her presence anyway?"Mogan thought aloud.
He would go back to his cottage this time and await to do his "master's" bidding as always. He told himself that she was like any other human being but was she?He felt the earth calling out to him,the surge of power and for the very first time he felt relieved.Maybe just maybe whatever next he would be told to do would distract him from falling prey to those silvery eyes.
Everytime the majik* took control he always felt his every nerve screaming for...release-he had never gotten used to it.The wind intensified, the rain drops hit the ground harder, leaves started to fall only to be lifted from the ground by the mighty wind. The once well tanned skin paled, the deep violet eyes were now pitchblack. His brown hair was now being blown .His every feature was magnified as something else took control leaving what little humanity he might had burried. One look at the ball of flame resting on his palm he sighed. What did his master have on his sleeve now?
********
Reana,I was tired of thinking, tired of running and hiding.I had sought for some peace in the woods but even there I had company. The sicko kept on making appearances at the most inopportune times.I hated how vulnerable I had felt under him.I knew I had to keep running but my body was fatigued.
Lord Warren must have spread word of my disappearance and this made me walk on.I wanted none of his filthy hands on me.I needed my freedom badly but did this mean I would keep on running every second of my life?
Was it not enough that I was still running from my shadows? The amulet I had been given by the empress, as a token of her appreciation, was biting into my collar bone like really bitting into it.I had tried to take it of severally but to no avail.Probably the biting thing would cease as it had earlier on.Deep penetrating holes
Filled immensely with sorrow
Blackness of the deep
Anguish the turmoil within
Yearning and wondering
Just like clouds they droop
Waters that carry so much...
Seering with pain laced with hope.A gateway to a disturbed being or should I say a walking corpse?I had run for a distance now when I decided to walk briskly instead. This was the third day since my escape and my energy was waning.I was frail and starved but that was not my priority then. Why me?Couldn't the emperor not find another mistress? Why did the fates keep on tossing my life from one master to the next?
I kept on stumbling and falling but still I walked on.Sometimes I questioned myself on why I kept on fighting.I had learnt to tolerate all hardships but that did not mean the pain was any less.Well no, I would never show how it hurt.
The amulet was still biting into me when the atmosphere suddenly charged. The air around me was charged with something I couldn't place. The wind was blowing furiously as my every instinct told me to run.My tiredness aside, I ran when I started hearing voices.Had they finally found me?Gaining up speed I did but the voices were getting closer and clearer. I murmured a soft wish for a rescue only to...
There he was or rather someone resembling him.I had stopped mid track upon his gaze and that crooked smile of his.
"Come over here kitty kitty."He said with what sounded like some faked enthusiasm.
No way would I ever go to him so I turned back to see Sheefa leading the hunting troops. My whole world seemed to tumble down.
"Well well, so kitty cat what's it going to be..Me or them?"No way I would go back to Lord Warren so my body on its own accord turned back and ran towards him. How I detested him for making me be in this fix.As I hit his chest continuously he held me tight. Then out of no where the whole place exploded as this green gooey* stuff covered us.Then it felt as if I was floating or should i say flying. This had to be a dream right?
Closing our eyes does not change what is beyond the eye lids.
