Before giving  our fighting strength, its  of importance knowing if the receiver needs or wants  it....

After all, needs and wants do not necessarily blend...

He felt  the 'safe' world he had tried to build, tumble  all round him.Had he known earlier the futility of his escapades,he would have folded his hands and did  absolutely nothing.Hans was more than worried about his sister's well-being.Weeks had passed without hearing  from Poseidon. Probably, the god was enjoying each moment that he (Hans) wallowed in self blaming.

Hans regretted why he had gotten himself entangled in the gods' business. He had relied on Demeter to save him but she had vanished to who knows where.Demeter was mother earth and he had hoped to improve his standing by siding with her. Then Poseidon happened.

"I see I have been missed." The sea god appeared to the disturbed  Hans.

Hans hardly knew whether to fight him or just stay put .His stakes had vanished into thin air upon Demeter's disappearance. How he hated the very thought but right now Poseidon was his only hope.

"Where is Megaira you wretch!"He shouted at the god who seemed rather undisturbed with Hans' outburst.

"Oh you referring to my plaything? And I would watch my words if I  were you."The sea god plainly stated.

The situation looked hopeless.Who knows what unthinkable things he had put  poor Megaira through.

"Did you decide? Not like you really have a choice now do you?Sisters make us do the unthinkable for them or against them, don't you think? "

"I accept, now may I have my sister  back? "Hans almost pleaded.

"The mighty Hans pleading? Now my day couldn't just get any better!"Poseidon said as he disappeared only to reappear a couple of minutes later with a very pale Megaira.

Her skin was white with no trace of life. Were it not for her fluttering eyelids, one could have mistaken her for a corpse. She was unconscious but a pulse rate definitely was there.

"Here you go."Poseidon said as he let the girl slip from his arms to Hans.

He hugged her so close to his chest-the one thing he truly cared for.Hans vowed to ensure she got back on her feet and that her hot tempers were back.Having Megaira back should have soothed him but it only made him think of what he had gotten himself into.

Everything has a price, they say, but what was the price that he had to pay?

"Now that this is settled, you will do whatever I want of you.No questions asked."With that Poseidon left leaving behind an embittered Hans.

This was too much even for his thirst for power.Who knows where Demeter had gone though it was obvious they weren't in good terms with Poseidon.

Funny how one's weakness could bend you to do another's will.
His quest had been short-changed while that of the sea god seemed to bloom. His door for power had just closed before his very eyes.

"Meg?Open up...am here now."He soothed  and willed her to open up but she wouldn't.

She looked lost and haunted by the nightmares Poseidon had made her go through.Hans wondered if she would ever be the same or had he lost her forever? Was this yet another door slamming shut in front of him?

No,she needed him and he would fight to get her back from that abyss she had sunk in.With this resolve,he went up the spiral of stairs and into Megaira's bed chambers. From the look of things,he wouldn't leave her presence until he got any response from her.

Tucking her in and kissing her messy red hair did nothing to comfort him.He was worried that if he left her presence, she would disappear-again.

"Meg....hey we will go horse riding just like we used to or you can yell at me all day like you used to..just come back to me now."He whispered into her ear.

No,Hans was no wimp.He was actually one strong man.An islander who shun anyone's presence except Megaira's.His remorse was therefore justified. She was actually the one who held his last thread to humanity.

Dusk approached quite fast.No servant was around. They were probably murmuring behind closed doors anyway,Hans arose to close the red velvety curtains and then he lit the lanterns in Megaira's room.

The yellowish light made her look more alive.Hans closed the door as if he didn't want to risk anyone seeing him in this vulnerable position. He drew near to her bedside, his blank face unreadable but his heavy heart telling it all  :

"Meg do hurry up for me.I want you back...no I need  you back."
