What we perceive is not always what we receive.

Athena had portrayed great lengths of wisdom in front of her father,Zeus, once again.Zeus loved her so much that he had entrusted her with the aegis and thunderbolt. She walked from her father's throne room graceful as ever. She had hoped  playing witty with the other gods would distract her but it worked not.Athena otherwise known as Athene knew she was not the only one eyeing...

She had always been a great acquaintance with those who went for heroic endeavours. However, she knew better. Her circle of the so called gods would not hesitate to shackle her up as they used her plans for their own good. She had a hunch that somehow Poseidon knew but  as always she would ensure she was one step ahead.

Sometimes she felt like the  battles humans fought were similar to those of the gods. When it came to power and selfish needs, everything else was left  to crumble away.Well, this time she would do what she had to do for the greater good. She would distract her uncle Poseidon and her priestess would come in handy-Medusa.

Athena secretly hoped all would go according to her wish.

"Little Owl how about a friendly visit to  Zoelah?"Athena asked her companion then let  herself  into Zoelah's chambers by just picturing them.

Zoelah seemed greatly disturbed and hardly noted the goddess' appearance. This had Athena thinking but she was the one to prioritize things and her visit was more important than whatever the empress was thinking about. Was it?

"Surprise, surprise Zoelah."Athena's sing song voice made  the empress aware of her presence.

Getting back from wherever her thoughts were ,Zoelah tried to focus her attention on Athena.Confusion was in her very eyes. What did the goddess want from her?She felt a little bit jealous of how the goddess was all calm and collected. How she wished she could master her calmness but how could she when her life was threatening to crumble away?

"How may I be of help to you?"Zoelah asked absent-mindedly

"I believe I am in a better position to ask that dear Zoelah? Anyway I came to inquire if there was anything new about the girl?Athena lied smoothly.

"Dont you know everything?" Zoelah spat out bitterly.

"Wooh! seems someone is all angry and no some things are out of my realm.I have a ball to attend to may I use your mirror?"Athena maintained her even tone as she asked.

Zoelah was shocked that Athena with all her magnificence would ask that but the thought quickly went away as it had come. There were simply so many other pressing thoughts fighting for space in her overloaded mind.

Taking a well toothed gold comb Athena brushed her hair silently with long strokes.

"Zoelah if you need someone to confide in you know how to get to me.I shall now take my leave."Athena said as she vanished once again, the comb in hand.

It would be quite a while before the empress realized of its disappearance. Not that she knew of its importance anyway.

Not every visit from a friend is a friendly visit

Reana,

I guess I had drifted to sleep because I was awoken  by a most teasing aroma. My stomach was rumbling now.Wait a minute,I was all alone in the cave so where was it coming from? My whole being was on alert as I cocked my head to study my surroundings.

My mind was  thinking of how the hunting troops were just outside the cave enjoying some delicacy before getting me.The little bit of safety I had felt earlier on faded. Why had I started deceiving myself that they would stop? My eyes stopped  their scrutinizing when I saw someone hunched preparing a dish I supposed.

I should have been on my feet running away but I kept still.A little part of me seemed to yearn for some kindness even if it was from a stranger.Haven't you stopped wishing for that which you can't have?Who would help one such as you?My mind attacked me with those thoughts.

As if sensing my gaze the person turned and smiled at me.With every step she made towards me,my heart kept on racing but  why was I still sitted there?

She was quite tall with midnight black hair which had a startling resemblance to mine.Placing a bowl of food before me as she gestured for me to eat.

I was trying to get a hold of myself for  that little act was great kindness  in my eyes.

"You look famished. How about some food?"She said in quite a melodic voice

When I hesitated she urged me on  by saying that she meant no harm but my heart trusted not.

"I mean you no harm"She said as her eyes widened in what seemed like honest convincing.

I just couldn't help but think why now?Why would the fates try to smile at me now?It was just too good to be true.Well those deep blue eyes urged me to eat. I swear were it not for the eye colour I would say I was looking at...me  Absurd ha!

Weirdly I had a kindred feeling towards her but I knew better than to have a circle of uuum...those claiming to be friends.Well, they would just get me Shackled up right?
