*** A Week Later ***

Ava woke up Saturday Morning at 6 am like every other day. Today was her one free day. Sophia was going to be with Connor all day, she had no chores or responsibilities for this one day. She threw the duvet off and got up, wandering quietly into Soph's room. She was still fast asleep with pillows and blankets and toys thrown everywhere. It looked as if she had a fight in her bed overnight. Ava giggled, she slept just like her daddy did, creating a huge mess that would take ages to clean up. Unlike Ava who slept like a log every night, the bed barely looking as if she had touched it. She slowly headed off to the kitchen stretching as she walked down the corridor. And like every morning, the first thing she would always do after checking on Soph was flick on the coffee maker. She leaned up against the kitchen counter and pulled her hair up into a messy bun with the hair tie that was around her wrist. As she stood there with the morning light flooding in the large glass windows she couldn't help but think about Connor. This time in a different way. A small smile crept across her face when her thoughts were interrupted by the coffee machine starting to dispense the coffee. She looked over to where it was sitting on the counter only to see the coffee pouring out all over the bench and dripping onto the floor. She had forgotten to put the mug under the machine.

A: SHIT!

Just as the word left her lips, little Sophia walked into the kitchen.

S: Mama?

A: Oh hunny I didn't hear you come in.

S: Whats shit?

A: I didn't say that I said ship. SHIP!

S: Why? There is no ship.

A: Ermmm

As Ava tried to think up an excuse Sophia lost interest and ran over to the Lego she had been playing with the night before and continued with what she had started to build. Ava sighed with relief and grabbed a handful of paper towels to soak up the coffee that had now created a large pool on the white tiles. She put a mug under the machine and started it up for a second time. As the cup filled she chopped up a banana and put a handful of blueberries on a kiddy plate along with a large blob of almond butter, calling Soph to the table to eat before they got dressed.

A: Soph baby breakfast.

Sophia ran over to the table and climbed into her designated seat. Ava sat down next to her with her coffee and a banana for herself.

S: Thank you Mommy.

A: You are very welcome.

She stared lovingly at her daughter for a few minutes as she ate, the sunlight shining on her golden hair. Ava was saddened for a moment because she realized that Soph knew nothing about South Africa, where here mother came from, she was through and through an American kid and just looking at her would never guess that she half South African. She decided in her mind that she would take her there as soon as she was old enough to understand.

2 hours later and both Ava and Sophia were dressed, sitting on the sofa watching morning cartoons, waiting for Connor to come pick her up. Ava had still not decided what she was going to do with her day off when she heard keys unlocking the front door. She had given Connor back the second set so he could come in and out when he needed in case she wasn't at home. He swung the door open and Sophia immediately leaped up and ran to him. He had a brown paper bag in his hands and a blue scarf wrapped around his neck that made his eyes look even more dazzling than usual. Ava had to try her hardest not to stare. He picked up Soph with his spare arm and then walked over to where Ava was still sitting on the sofa, handing her the bag.
