After detention, I took back control and I could immediately feel Cole retreat, he must've been really tired from having to interact with people, something he does not do.

I walked home in a daze, but I started panicking because Asher saw the color of my eyes, and I didn't know much about shifters so I didn't know what could or could not have green eyes. I was fairly sure that wolves have yellow or blue eyes though. Which made me even more confused about Asher, his eyes were more orange than yellow, was he not a wolf? Even if he wasn't, he lived with wolves. Was he part of a pack?

“Hey Warren, how was your day?” Jenny asked as soon as I walked into the living room. Dracula, her black cat with sharp green eyes, came over and started running against my legs.

“It was okay, how was yours?” I asked trying to be polite.

“Eh, it wasn't bad. I had to take Toby to get neutered so he's staying at the vet's, I'll pick him up tomorrow.” she told me. Toby was Jenny's kitten, he was the younger of the two cats. He had a white coat with black spots.

“Okay, well I'm going to go upstairs. See you later.” Jenny nodded, and the cat trailed behind me.

I laid on my bed, listening to music, and trying to block out everything. I didn't want to think about what had happened earlier, or the fact that we had a date on Saturday. I just felt so confused, why did I have to meet my mate? It was like he was the only thing that mattered anymore, something I'm not really prepared for.

The next morning I felt really sick, my head felt like it was about to explode. I took Advil and tried to shake it off. I fixed a cup of coffee and Jenny walked into the kitchen.

“Good morning.” I raised my mug up at her words, an indication I had heard her without replying. “Do you feel okay?” she asks.

“Yeah, just my head. It's killing me.” I replied.

“Did you take Advil?”

I nod, “I'm sure it'll kick in soon. Anyway, I have to go get ready.” She nodded and I drained the cup and set it in the sink.

I threw on a pair of jeans and an old t-shirt. I didn’t care about anything this morning, I didn’t care about the fact that Asher’s friends probably hated me, the fact that Asher saw my eyes, a far cry from the yellow I’ve seen on werewolves, or the fact that his eyes didn’t quite seem that of a werewolf either. Cole kept trying to talk to me, reassure me, get my hopes up, whatever. It didn’t matter, I just kept shutting him out. I couldn’t deal with any of this nonsense that had become my life. I just wanted to graduate high school. That’s all.
